Current day: December 18th 2015

I smiled as I look down at my beautiful daughter, ready to leave for her first day of school.

God, she looks so much like her mother.

"Ready, princess?" I ask, kneeling down to fix her dress collar. I chuckle lightly as she pulls a cheeky, toothless grin at me.

"Yes, daddy!" My daughter squeals as she races past me to grab her bag and swing it onto her back. "I can't wait any longer"

I chase her down to the bottom of the stairs, meeting her at the front door. I pick her up and throwing her over my back and ticking her toes.

"But you forgot something, Brae"

She squeals again, wiggling out of my grip. I let her go as she runs over to the shoe stand and grabs a pair of pink ballerina flats.

"I forgot to put on shoes!" She giggles

Once in the car and on the road, the traffic was a nightmare. It was lucky that we had left the time we did, otherwise she wouldn't have had made it to class on time.

I park my car outside the classroom and rush her into the room where she was headed.

Its only a matter of seconds before my little girl is whisked away with the others. I was so worried for her. I've never left her a day by herself. The two of us have been inseparable.

She turns around for the last time before the door and blows me kiss. I reach out, catching it and returning the favor.

"I love you, Brae"
