Mia and Lee awoke with a thud.
They hadn't been sleeping well anyway...
"Lee? Did you hear that noise?" Mia asked, running into Lee's room.
"Yeah, I heard it. It came from downstairs. Maybe it's nothing."
"Where are the guys?" Mia asked shakily.
"Remember? They went to make sure the others got back from here safely. They won't be back until tomorrow afternoon."
"Oh, that's right. So...should we check?"
Lee sighed.
"How about if I check? I can tell you don't want to," Lee said.
"No, it's okay. I'll come."
They walked downstairs slowly. Lee was carrying a candle and Mia insisted on carrying a baseball bat.
Suddenly, the room went black.
