"Hey you know I have a say in our extracuriculum this year, so don't get too crazy," I told Emily as she explained her plans to be in a book club, writing club, and nature club together. She shot me a look that said fine. I turned away and looked up as we approached the school. Since we lived so close we walked. Well that's what Em told me, but I think it's something about the extra weight she gained over the summer.
Ever since she gave up gymastics she took up other things like studying, and well, eating. She claimed everyone said she was bad at gym and should give up, so she did. Emily had a bad rep with doing whatever others asked of her because she was scared to say no. But with me, Em had no fear with telling me straight up to get her a twinkie.
When we walked into the school front doors we stopped to pick up our new schedules. I strolled to the "M" section, and my excited friend went to the "J's". Mears and Johnson. My schedule was the following: English, History, Math, Science, Reading, P.E, and Free Hour. And to my surprise Em's was about the same! With the switch of English and History. It was perfect. I just needed to do something great during free hour and I think I decided what. On our way to the hall of clubs and free hour choices we were stopped by multiple students and teachers. "Join science club, we disect daily!" Not up my alley. "Beauty School classes! Oh sweety," the girl took Emily's arm , "you could use some help. Join us?"
"Ug-gh" Emily hesitated.
"She's not interested" I quickly snapped taking my best friend's arm.
"Thanks, I dont know what I would have done without your help." Emily stammered like she had seen a ghost. She always got a little shaken when I had to make a decision for her.
"Oh goodness, breathe she just asked a question! Now come on I have the perfect idea for my free hour!"
