Chapter Five - Talking Body

I'm leaning against a wall beside the door that leads to the room where the initiates will get taken into one by one for their fear simulations, my arms are crossed over my chest as I watch each initiate, looking more and more anxious as the minutes pass. Soon enough, an initiate comes out, looking shaken, a normal reaction to it.

"What did they do to her?" Chris asks herself, Tris just watches as she walks past, Four steps out of the room.

"Tris," He says, waving his hand towards himself, "Come on." She takes a deep breath before getting up and walking into the room, the door shutting behind them. Minutes passed, and about 20 minutes later, she leaves the room, looking pale. I don't say anything but Four is short and snappy for the rest of the time the initiates go into the room.

Later, I meet Eric in the Pit.

"How did the simulations go? Anything suspicious?" He asks and I shake my head.

"I wasn't actually in the room but I noticed that some left the room quicker than others." I said and his interested peaked.

"Yeah? Who?"

"Uh, a couple, I can't remember, you'll have to look back at the timings that were entered, it depends if Four had talked to them afterwards or beforehand." He looks at me for a second, before nodding. He leans over and kisses my forehead before standing up, I look up at him in question.

"I'm going to my office and I'm going to look at the videos from the fears, check them over in-case we caught any Divergents, from both the transfers and Dauntless-borns." He says, and I nod.

"I think I'll go visit Luna, I haven't spent as much time with her and since it's a free day from now on.." I trail off and Eric smiles down, kissing me on the lips this time before walking away. I sigh and move, I glance over at the initiates, some are already looking at me and move their gaze when I catch them. I run to the shop, seeing Luna in the corner, surrounded by toys, cornered off with a pen, making sure she doesn't up and leave the shop, well crawl and leave.

"Hi Tori." I nod in her direction, she waves, keeping her eyes on a tattoo she's working on and I go over to Luna, crouching down to her, "And hello my baby." I coo, she looks over to me with a smile, babbling nonsense, then putting a toy in her mouth, chewing on it. I pick her up and settle her on my hip. I close my eyes as I kiss her forehead, flashes of what's to come in my mind.

Why was this lady so set on destroying what seemed like a good fixture? Yeah, Abnegation may break some laws from time to time, but that's how they are, they feed the factionless, give spare clothes and look after some kids, but that's who they are, they're the selfless. I open my eyes, smiling a little when I pull the toy from Luna's mouth, cringing a little when her saliva drips onto my hand. 

"How's training going?" Tori asks and I shrug.

"It's going slow, it's weird not having as many around as the years before."

"Yeah, why is that?" She asks, looking over at me

"It's a faction thing now, the better ones stay as the weaker ones leave." I explain and she shrugs, leaving the subject alone.

I stay for a while, before leaving Luna with Tori again.

"Sorry to do this, but I should check on Eric, he's going over the videos for the simulations and I need to check on them too." I said and she smiles, going over to hug me, I hug her back tightly.

"Thank you so much for looking after her, I definitely owe you one." I say and she pulls back, her eyes bright.

"Don't worry about, I love looking after her." She says and I smile back, leaving the shop pretty quickly. I make my way up to Eric's office, I open the door before knocking, stopping in the doorway, seeing Max with Eric.

"Oh, I'm sorry." I say, stepping back, "Should I come back later?" I ask and Max shakes his head.

"No, actually, you should know too," Max says, turning to face me, "One of our initiates has left the compound, and is over at Erudite." My eyes widen

"How did they get out of the compound?" I ask

"My guess is the train." Eric states, leaning against his desk, crossing his arms over his chest

"How did you find out?" I ask Max

"Jeanine told me, she's currently talking to whoever it is now." He stated and I nodded, makes sense they'd be in constant contact because of the plans after initiation.

"She didn't tell you who it was?" I asked

"She had her suspicions." Max continued, "Said initiate has a brother who transferred into Erudite."

"Should we go over and pick her up?" I say and Eric shakes his head, Max does also.

"So what then?" I say

"Nothing, we wait for her to come back, it'll be soon." Max says, "I'll leave you two alone." He says before leaving the room, I shake my head, turning my attention to Eric.

"Anyway, catch anything on the videos?" I ask him and he shakes his head.

"One video was edited though, the Stiffs, I'll have to ask Four about it later." He says and I sigh.

"I'm pretty sure he likes her you know." I say, smiling a little. Eric shakes his head at me.

"Come on, let's go home." Eric says, getting up from the desk and grasping my hand, "I just want to get my daughter and go home so I can play with her." He says, and I melt, following him.

Hours later, I'm in bed with Eric, just as I was about to fall asleep, I could hear knocking on the door, I sigh as Eric groans as he wakes. He follows me to the door as I open it, seeing Four.

"What's up?" I ask him, he frowns.

"There was an attack within the initiates dorm." He informs us and I sigh, opening to door to let him in, he walks in and takes a seat on the sofa, I shut the door as Eric moves to sit a fair distance away, I sit between the two.

"What happened?" Eric asked, his fingers on his nose, pinching it as his eyes squint.

"I found a group trying to throw Tris over the chasm, they had her eyes covered so they couldn't tell who it was, but she told me she knew one of them was Al, she had gotten her mask taken off just in time, I managed to grab onto her just before she fell, she's currently at my place, the dorm isn't safe at the moment for her." He explains

"Any evidence? Video?" I ask and he shakes his head

"We've been having problems with it lately, it keeps stopping and starting, during this time though the video had stopped, but started just as I got her over the railing." I sighed, rubbing my forehead.

"We can't do anything, Max won't take just eye witnessing as evidence, he'd want video, we can't do anything." I repeat to him and he nods.

"I get it, I understand. Sorry for waking you up, I'll see you guys later." Four rushed out before leaving, shutting the door quietly. I felt a little guilty not being able to help him, or the girl I think he has a thing for.
