Alice's POV

I ran down the streets, ignoring the dull pain of my bruised torso as it sent pulses of heat up my back with every step. It was Friday, and I had managed to escape from the hellhole that I call high school. Not to mention that Father doesn't come home until around nine tomorrow , so I can stay with Iris all night long.

I ran into the hospital, slowing down to a quick but quiet walk as the clean white walls surrounded me. I approached the lady at the desk, who smiled sweetly like she always does when I come here.

"Hello Miss Alice, you excited to see Iris again I suppose?" I nodded quickly, taking the laptop out of my bag,

"Yes miss, today we should finally get up to date on the game we're watching."

The nice lady chuckled, reminding me of the nice grandmothers in the movies. "Well then, have fun. Tell Miss Iris I said hi alright?"

I nodded, speed-walking in determination towards the elevator. I managed to make it inside just as it was about to close, luckily, and I pressed floor four.

"Hello there miss."

I nearly jumped out of my worn out converse as I realized I'm not alone. A boy with blonde hair and a black hat stood behind me, wearing what seemed to be a black military uniform complete with a black cape. "Hi there, how are you?" I asked, the kid couldn't be over 7, he was just so freaking adorable. "I'm doing good. I'm selling cupcakes though, would you like one?"

I then noticed that he was carrying a basket with pink and blue frosted cupcakes inside. Iris would love one....probably, I thought as I nodded. "Alright, I'll take two please." The kid smiled as I handed him a five (a/n wtf five dollar cupcakes?!? Reader you're getting ripped off here! Panda-chan shut up and let them read).

"Lucky you miss, these are the last two." I thanked him as the elevator dinged, alerting me that it was on the fourth floor. As I said goodbye to the kid and started to walk out, I heard his voice call out to me. "Tell Miss Iris that I hope she feels better soon!" I turned around, how did he know Iris? Oddly enough, the elevator doors were already shut, leaving me confused as I turned back around and headed for the room that Iris was staying in.

"Guess who?" I asked as I opened the door, revealing my younger twin sister sitting up on the bed, grinning ear to ear.

"It could only be you big sis," she laughed quietly,"Did you bring it?"

I set my bag down by her bed, taking out the laptop in answer to her question. "Do I ever disappoint you?"

"Well there was that one time when you clicked on that lemon-"

"Iris! I believe that both of us thought that the title on the link was completely lemon-free!" This resulted in both of us busting up, doing our best to hold it in so that the nurses wouldn't scold us. Suddenly Iris started to break out into a coughing fit, a horrible hacking sound that broke my heart as I quickly started to rub her back, trying to ease the pain in anyway I can.
