"Hello, I'm Dr. Shepherd. I have been Michael's doctor. This is my intern Heather." The woman looked up slightly and gave us all a small smile. She looked at Dr. Shepherd and then back down. Vic was shaking his head and tears were streaming down his face. He finally closed his eyes.
"No.. no this can't be. No." He moaned quietly. Before I knew it we all had tears streaming down our faces.
"No.. is right." Dr. Shepherd smiled softly. "He's not gone. He's here, and he's breathing." He looked like he had just won the Olympics. I looked at Heather. She was still sulking and wasn't looking at any of us.
"If everything is so freaking great, why the hell is she so uspet?" I pointed my chin at her and squinted my eyes.
"Well.." He started.
"UGH!" I threw my hands in the air and turned away. "There's always a fucking catch!" I said a little too loudly.
"Jesus Christ, Skye! Calm down and let him explain!" Vic said. I looked at him and shook my head. I turned back to Dr. Shepherd.
"Coma? Paralyzed? What is it?" I said louder. "WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIM THAT YOU CAN'T FIX AND ITS ALL MY FAULT?" I screamed at him. I put my hands over my eyes and cried. I felt two arms wrap around me. I looked to see the intern Heather crying softly.
"Dr. Shepherd is amazing. He can fix anyone and anything. Your friend is going to be fine. And it sure as hell isn't your fault." She said strongly. She gripped my shoulders tightly with her hands. "He's not in a coma. He's not paralzyed. He broke his arm and leg. He shattered his elbow and his knee pretty badly. I was upset because he was talking some nonsense in his sleep about his band getting famous and he needed to drum. It just got me pretty upset because he might not be able to drum for a long time." She looked back down and let my shoulders go.
"That's it?" I whispered. "He's okay?"
"Yes. He's okay." Dr. Shepherd smiled. I ran to him and hugged him. He laughed softly. When I pulled away he started explaining some more. "I was able to mostly fix the alignment of his knee and elbow. But.. we wont really know how much he can move it until wakes up fully and starts to move around. For now though he's all casted up. Only time can tell..."
"Dr. Shepherd, as long as my brother is alive, I'm okay with anything. Its better than him not being here." Vic said softly. I went over to him and hugged him tightly.
"See? I told you he would be alright." I smiled up at Vic. He smiled back softly. "I knew he would."
