Miserable At Best

~ Mike's POV ~

I shouldn't have told her I liked her. She doesn't feel the same. I just know it. I looked out the window of his boring class. Why am I so stupid? I should have known better. I looked down at my syllabus paper and sighed. I mean, I'm a junior, and she's a senior. Why would she be interested in me anyways..? I thought about that Kellin kid, and the way she looked at him, and shook my head. I'm not as good as him. I jumped as my phone buzzed.

"No phones in class!" said the teacher.

I looked around and carefully pulled out my phone.

Cora: You okay?

Me: Yeah, just a little upset. How did you know?

Cora: We talked.

Me: Oh..

Cora: Yeah.. But some good news is there is a new girl. She's a junior too.

Me: What's her name?

Cora: Sophia!

Me: Pretty :)

Cora: I'll introduce you. (:

Me: Idk. Maybe.

Cora: Alright.. Cheer up, man! :D

Me: Thanks Cora.

I snapped my phone shut and put it in my pocket. It buzzed again and I sighed heavily.

Skye: Can we talk at my house after school?

I instantly cheered up.

Me: Sure! I'll be there around 3:00.

Skye: Okay q:

I suddenly felt happier and smiled. Unlike this dark, cloudy day, I was happy now. I felt like the sun was inside my pocket. That's what Skye was to me. My sunshine.

~ Skye's POV ~

"Hey my mexican bruthasssss!" Jaime boomed as he smiled and started piling food on his tray. "I'm starved!"

Em laughed at him and grabbed a salad. Tony and Ana walked up to us. Ana grabbed a rather gray looking lunch, while Tony piled his tray almost as high as Jaime's. When he saw me laughing at him he looked at me and smiled devishly.

"What!? A bruthas gotta eat!" At this Ana, Em and I almost died. Cora walks up and pats his stomach.

"Careful Tone! Wouldn't want to get chubby! Ana might leave you." He widened his eyes and looked at Ana as Cora laughed hysterically. Her and I grabbed a salad and went to our lunch table.

Mike, Vic, and Jaime were already seated. Jaime was busy eating while Mike and Vic looked to be having a serious conversation. I sat down while they all eyed me. I looked down at myself and wondered what they were staring at.

"What the fuck are you looking at? Do I have something on my face?!" They all quickly looked away.

Jaime looked at them and then rolled his eyes. He stopped eating. "No, Skye. Lover boy over there was wondering if he should tell you some mushy shit, and Vic was trying to talk him out of it. It honestly sounded so gay!" Jaime started rolling with laughter and almost started crying. Vic was laughing almost as hard. Ana, Em, and Cora walked up and gave us all curious looks.

"Uhhh..." is all Cora could manage. I shook my head and she understood. She took her seat next to Vic. Mike was on my left. Ana sat next to Tony, and Em sat next to Jaime. She had brought a couple of napkins and was patting his mouth when Kellin walked up.

"Hey Skye!" He sat down next to me on my right and smiled softly.

"Hey!" I smiled back as I got lost in his perfect blue eyes. A couple seconds later I heard someone clear their throat and looked to Mike.

"So, uh, am I still coming over later?"

"Oh, uh, yeah!" I smiled at him, kind of annoyed that he'd ruined such a perfect moment.

"Alright. Cool!" he got up and started walking away. He stopped suddenly and planted a soft kiss on my cheek.

My face burned and I instantly knew it was an ugly color of red. Jaime, Vic, and Tony all whistled and shouted with their approval.

"YEAH MY BOYYYYY!" Jaime yelled.

I gave them all death stares and mouthed stop.

Cora instantly became enraged and had to stop herself. She knew what my situation was and how I felt. She cleared her throat and spoke to them.

"All of you... quiet. Everyone is staring." All of us looked around to quiet stares and my face blushed an even deeper red.

Kellin looked around awkwardly and stood up.

"Where are you... going...?" I stood up with him. I knew everyone was still looking at us, including my small group of friends.

He awkwardly shuffled a bit. "I was going to the court yard. Uh..."

"Can I come with...?" I asked looking into his perfect blue eyes.

As he stared back into mine he nodded and turned around to walk away.
