>Sarah's POV<
"Sarah!" My social worker yelled from behind my door. "You really need to start packing! Your family will arrive in about half an hour." I heard her walk down the stairs. I opened my closet. My back lay on my bag. I couldn't do it, I can't pack my bag. If I do so, it means I will have to live with my new family even sooner. I don't want to. I had rather stay here, in this crappy house with thirty other children.
I threw my back of my bed and hit my face in my pillow. I cried. I don't want to move in with a new family, I want my old family back.
----Flashback----
"Emma! Sarah! Will you finally pay attention?" My teacher asked us for the third time.
I looked at my best friend, Emma. We were passing papers to each other. About how all the guys in the class are such idiots, and how we will never find someone here. We both giggled. She really is my best friend, no doubt. I was glad I was spending the week in her house, as my parents are currently in Italy for work.
The door of the class room opened and the head of the school came in. He whispered something to our teacher whose face turned from stressed to sympathetic. She looked in my direction.
"Sarah? Pack up your stuff, you are going with Mr. Harrison." My teacher said to me.
I looked confused to Emma. She shrugged. I didn't do anything bad, did I?
When I came into the hallway I saw two other people standing there. A policeman and tall, thin women with red hair. They introduced themselves, the women was a social workers. What does a social worker got to do with me?
"Sarah, your parents," Mr. Harrison, the head of the school, started. "they.., their airplane crashed."
"What? Crashed?" I asked in confusion. "Are they okay?"
"The rescuers tried the best they could with all the passengers. Your parents, unfortunately, were already dead."
My parents died? I wanted to scream and cry but my throat felt sore, I didn't manage to get any words out. I saw the lips of the women moving. I didn't hear her, my parents died. The whole world stopped for me, right there and right then.
----End of Flashback----
I heard a soft knock on my door. "Who's there?"
The door opened and someone walked in. I turned around and saw my best friend standing next to my bed.
"Hi, Sarah." Emma said. "You didn't pack yet. Are you staying?"
I shook my head. "No, I need to go. I can't stay here forever, that's what my social worker says."
"Shall I help you pack your stuff?"
I shrugged. Emma walked to my closet, started folding clothes and put them in my bag.
"I am going to miss you, Emma." I cried. Emma walked over to me and put her arms around me.
"I am so sorry, Sarah. I am going to miss you too. I am going to miss the moments when we passed notes in class, when we went shopping and when we were having high teas. I am going to miss everything!"
She fell silent. I let her go and sat on my bed again, I sighed and rolled my sleeves down. I didn't want to see the cuts now.
I started cutting when my realised my parents were really gone and would never come back. My social workers don't know about it, Emma does, though. She begged me to stop when she found out and so I did. I didn't do it ever since.
