"come with me."
I said.
"why?"
she replied.
"no questions."
we walk outside.

after walking for awhile she gets tired.
"are we close?"
she asks.
I look up to the sky.
"I believe so."

we walk for awhile longer.
"are we actually going somewhere?"
she asks.
"no more words."
I say softly.
all is quiet.
we are here.

I lay down in the dry grass,
motioning her to come with me.

"what is this?"
silence.
"answer me."
silence.

with a sigh,
she lies by my side.

"here it comes."
I say.
small raindrops begin to fall,
we lay there,
breathing in the petrichor.

a drop falls off her eyelashes,
her eyes are closed,
she hasn't spoken.

I tapped her.

she gets up and looks me straight in the eyes.

I grab her hand,
and we chase the rain.
