CHAPTER THREE
Shortly after my mate randomly stormed out, my parents came home. They walked in with sad smiles, and I knew what was happening. I was being sent away.

"Hey sweetheart," my mom says, sitting down next to me on the bed. My dad occupies the chair that was pulled up next to my bed. "How's the pack?" I ask, "Is everyone healing properly? Did anyone lose their life?" My dad grabs my hand, and I grip it tightly.

"Well, we lost a few people, darling," he says. "Who?" I ask. My mom brushes hair away from my face, "Honey, I'm so sorry." "Who?!" I demand, grasping onto my dad's hand as if it was my lifeline.

My dad swallows, sighing sadly, "We lost seven adults, none of whom you were close with, but still an unfortunate happening." I gulp, "Who did I lose from my fight group?" I just knew that one of the kids I'd been training was dead. "Lillian passed away," my dad answers, blinking away a tear.

I grind my teeth together to keep from letting out a scream. Tears form in my eyes so quickly, and I can't hold them back. Lillian was one of the pack's orphans. She was a tiny girl, at only the age of fourteen. She was a strong fighter, but probably not strong enough to take down a full grown male wolf. She had just joined my fight group a few weeks ago, seeing as she'd finally shifted and desired to be a fighter. We'd become pretty close in the last few weeks, and I let out a sob.

"Her body?" I ask, shutting my eyes tightly. "Barley together.. I'm so sorry," my mother says. I shriek loudly, "And I suppose I'll be gone before the funeral?" I open my eyes to find my parents both silently crying. I was their only child, and I could see how hard this was for them. "You're getting your injury looked at in about an hour, and you're leaving for Alpha Adrien's pack tomorrow morning," my dad says, his eyes hard.

I scream out in frustration, "Why did I get stuck with such an ignorant asshole of an alpha for a mate?" I hear footsteps from downstairs and I wipe away a stray tear. My mom whips her head towards the door, "Scarlett, for your own sake, I hope he didn't hear that!" I chuckle, "Hmm, and I hope he goes to hell." I hear a growl from the stairway, and I smirk.

My mom stands, pulling my dad up with her, "We'll take you to the pack doctor's in an hour. Don't get out of bed until then." With that, they walk out of my room. My mate stands in the doorway, and I don't so much as give him a second glance.

I sigh, sitting up and preparing to take a step out of bed. My mate stalks over to me, lightly pushing me back onto the bed, "Stay." "I am not a dog, and I certainly do not take orders from you!" I snap at him. He gives me a bone chilling grin, "But baby, you do. First thing is first, I'm Alpha Adrien, and everyone takes orders from me. Second, you're my mate, and since you are mine, you listen to me carefully. Are we understood?"

His eyes have grown darker, and his stance has a predatory look to it. I gulp, "Not quite, Adrien." He growls, pushing me down with more force. I squint at him, "You're hurting me." He releases his hold, "Even your parents said to stay in bed, so that's what you'll do." I groan, "Can I at least get up to grab a book?" His eyes flicker around the room, and he finds my overflowing bookshelf in the corner. His lips curve upwards for a second until they go back to their permanent scowl, "What book?" "It by Stephen King," I say, pointing to the open book lying on the top. He nods, and grabs the book quickly, handing it back to me.

"And what do we say?" he asks in a mocking tone. I roll my eyes, "Thank you, Alpha." He growls lightly at my response, and a small smile finds it's way into my face.

I open the book, which is almost finished, and continue right where I'd left off. I ignore my mate and everything else for a good thirty minutes before I decide to look up at reality. I shut my book, putting it off to the other side of my bed. I stare into my mate's eyes and he stares intently back.

"Are you okay?" I ask, and he raises an eyebrow. "Why wouldn't I be?" he asks. "You stormed out earlier?" I comment casually, placing a hand gently on his leg. He stiffens, looking at it as if it were going to bite him. Moon Goddess, what was his problem? I retract my hand, and he clears his throat, "Pack business." I reply hesitantly, "Am I not an important part of your pack now?" He answers very quickly, almost automatically, "One of the most important." I can't help but smile, "Then let me help." He pinches the bridge of his nose before looking back at me, "We just needed to prepare transportation for the injured back to our grounds. It's taken care of, but thank you."

I nod, "Is everyone from your pack alright?" "Our pack," he says sternly, "And yes, mostly. I think there was only one death, but there were quite a few injuries. The Black Moon pack fought better than I thought." He looks conflicted before adding, "Especially you.. Who would've thought? A female leading a fight group.. females even being in fight groups."

I raise my head proudly, "Us girls are stronger than anyone tends to think." He frowns, "How old are you?" My eyes widen in shock. I hadn't even thought about age. "I'm seventeen,"I reply. It's his turn to become surprised, apparently, by the look on his face. "You're only seventeen?" he questions, standing and taking a hand through his short hair. I wince, nodding in response. He throws his hands in the air, "A ten year difference!" I gasp, "You're already twenty seven?" I cover my mouth, my head spinning. This sort of an age difference between mates was rare. Fate usually paired people of the same age together.

"How can you be Luna? You're a minor!" Adrien exclaims. My wolf growls loudly at this and I sit up, furious, "I'll be the best damn Luna you could have. Fuck the age difference!" His jaw drops, and I almost laugh. He fixes his face almost instantly. I stand, disobeying my parents wish. "I have every capability to take care of OUR pack," I practically yell, stepping closer to him.

Adrien shakes his head, taking a step back. Then, oddly, he takes a few steps forward. It was like his mind changed in a millisecond. He closes the distance between us, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me into his chest. I inhale deeply, sighing in content. "You're the perfect mate, and the perfect Luna for The Dark Crescent Pack." My wolf practically purrs at his words, and I wrap my arms around him, "Thank you."

A knock sounds on the door. I sigh, pulling away from my mate as the door opens. My mom is on the other side, a small smile gracing her face, "Scar, it's time to go to the pack house." I look at my mate, "Are you coming with me?" He chuckles, "Please, I am carrying you there. If you think you'll be walking with your side that hurt, you have another thing coming to you." I cross my arms over my chest defiantly, "You are not carrying me! I'm not five!" He glances at me with a joking look on his face, "You might as well be." I laugh sarcastically, "Okay, then you might as well be a grandfather!"

He rolls his eyes at that, and walks over to me picking me up bridal style in one swift movement. "Hey, put me down!" I shout, pushing myself off of him. It doesn't work.

My mate smirks at me, "Sorry can't, princess."
