Edited on:Rahul's POV.
I can't believe it. It was her. After all this time, I can't believe this is the situation where we meet again. I couldn't get my eyes off of her, she looked so beautiful. It was like I fell in love with her all over again.
She elegantly sat down next to her parents and occasionally stole glances at me. I couldn't help, but do the same. Our parents started talking and I completely ignored them. My thoughts still stuck on the fact that I was MAYBE about to get married to my ex-girlfriend. There wasn't exactly anything I could do about it either. My parents didn't know I had dated her, or anyone else for that matter. Ahaana too had told me she hadn't told anyone about our relationship at that time. Bhabhi was talking to Ahaana most of the time.
"You say hello to Ahaana too." Bhabhi grabbed Anmol and Aria's hands holding it out to Ahaana.
"Hello." They both replied.
"Hello." She smiled and shook their hands. I couldn't help, but smile myself. Her voice was just the same like the last time I heard it. It was like a melody to my ears.
If I could just talk to Ahaana once, if I could get to know what's going on in her mind, what she's thinking.
"Beta, why don't you and Ahaana go outside and talk for a while. Get to know each other better and then tell us your decision when you come back." My mother spoke. No one knew me better than my mom. I slowly nodded glancing at Ahaana who didn't look so pleased. I got up first and then so did she after a few seconds. We walked outside, she leading us to the gazebo. She turned and gestured for me to sit down. I sat down on one of the benches.
"Look Rahul, I don't know what you're doing here, after nearly four years. I know our parents have fixed this marriage proposal for us. I don't know what your decision is, but I really respect my parents and I don't want to refuse them this time. If you agree to this marriage, so will I, otherwise, I don't want to force you." She said not even bearing to make eye contact with me.
"And what exactly do you think Ahaana? Even if I agree to this marriage, I'm saying it for you! Oh no no. Even I love my parents just as much as you love yours! When my parents had told me about this proposal, I'd never have agreed if I knew it were you." I replied. I didn't quite see her face, but I could tell she was crying.
"And since I don't want to hurt my parents, it's a yes from me." I replied getting up and tucking my hands into my pockets. I then turn and walk downstairs not even bothering to wait for her, but I knew she was following right behind her. Everyone immediately got up upon seeing us.
"What's your decision beta?" My mom asked staring at both of us. I gave Ahaana a quick glance and then turned back to her.
"It's a yes from me."
"Ahaana?" Aunty stared at Ahaana her eyes pleading for her to say yes.
"It's a yes." She said. I looked in her direction. Our eyes locked as everyone started congratulating each other. At that moment, everything is processing very slowly in my head. It's like the two of us are having a very intense staring competition. Neither of us breaking eye contact. The game starts now. The only part where I'm questioning it myself; Did I make the right decision?
