"Ahaana, look at this one beta." My mom held up a beige chiffon sari which was pretty revealing by the belly.
"No mom, it's too open." I said.
"Ahaana, we've been here for the past hour and you have not picked out one sari yet." She snapped.
"We'll then maybe I shouldn't get married either. No marriage, no sari tension." I snapped back. Don't get me wrong, but it's not like my mom and I fought all the time. Sometimes, we just tend to argue. She shook her head and went back to looking at the sarees. I was bored of looking at sarees, so instead, I went to the lehengas section.
"Mom please man! Let me decide!" I heard a familiar voice snap. I looked up and saw a rather familiar face. Wait, I've... I've seen her somewhere. She glanced up at me and she must've noticed me.
"Ahaana- Jhanvi!" We both said pointing to the other at the same time. And then we broke into fits of laughter.
"What are you doing here?" We both asked at the same time.
"You first." Again we both said at the same time.
"I'm shopping for my wedding lehenga." I smiled.
"Same!" She exclaimed.
"When is your wedding?" She asked.
"On the fourteenth, of this month. Yours?"
"This week." She smiled. My smile got even wider upon hearing that.
"And you must come." She squeezed my hand affectionately as her other hand held a heavy designer lehenga.
"Me? I... But-"
"No ifs and buts. Besides, Nikhil will really like it." Oh yeah, Nikhil! How could I forget him?
"Alright." I agreed.

"Besides, you should go out and spend more time with Ahaana. You're always busy with work t-"
"Mom please! Can we not talk about this right now?" I begged as I grabbed Aria and seated her on my lap.
"Yeah yeah, I'm always wrong. When do you ever listen to me anyway? You never do anything I tell you to anyways. One side there's your brother who barely ever comes home, so I never see him and then there's you who-"
"Mom!"
"Stop being so sentimental! Always emotionally blackmailing me to do whatever you want!" Don't get me wrong, I loved my mom, but she was always emotionally blackmailing me into doing something I didn't want to.
"Fine, don't go! Poor Ahaana, she's such a sweet girl and then there's you, Khadus."
"I'm not Khadus!" I yelled offendedly. Only I knew how how Ahaana really was. Only I knew what was actually hidden behind that fake sweet face. Aria and Anmol started laughing.
"You kind of are chachu." I stared at them opened mouthedly.
"You guys only love me when I bring you gifts. Go, chachu doesn't love you anymore."
I fakely pouted and folded my arms across my chest.
"No no chachu, we love you! We love you." They jumped up at me.
"Yeah, Ahaana." I heard my moms sweet voice say. I immediately snapped my head to her and glared at her to cut the call. She just smiled at me continuing to talk to Ahaana. Waved my hand in front of my neck to cut the call, but of course she didn't. After a long talk, she finally cut the call and turned to me.
"Ahaana waiting for you, beta."
"Mom! I'm not going! I'm not the one who told you to call her and tell her we are hanging out! You called, now you handle it." I got up and turned to make my way upstairs.
"Rahul please!" She pleaded, bit I ignored and continued walking upstairs.
"Rahul!"
"Tumhe meri kasam!' And I immediately stopped. This is the method my mom always used on me and I hated it! She'd always do this and I couldn't refuse.
"Good boy! Quickly get ready! Ahaana must be waiting." I groaned and slammed my room door shut. I had to go get ready for my wonderful "hangout" with my to- be wife.

I get to the restaurant we were meeting for dinner. I had already reserved a table for two, so there were no complications. The waited shows me my table. I thank him and sit down.
20 minutes passed and she had still not arrived. How can someone be so careless of time? I cannot stand people who are careless and are late. I pull out my phone to call her, but then realize I don't have her number. I couldn't call my mom either or she'd go all hyper on me telling how I don't have my to-be-fiancés number. And then I saw a figure sit down in front of me. And damn! How could I never realized how beautiful she was till now.
"Sorry I'm late."'
"Of course you are! Do you even know how long I've been waiting here for you! Do you value someone's time! I could've rather been doing something much better than sitting here and waiting for you like an idiot!"
"Excuse me! I was held back for an emergency operation. Iw don't think you know what being a doctor is! And by the way, it was your mother who had called and informed me you wanted to meet me for dinner. Otherwise, I have no interest in coming here for dinner with you."
"Oye hello! Dinner with you? And me, puh-leeze! And by the way, do you think you are the only doctor in this world? That you're the only one who has work? No, I have business meetings and parties to attend to, but here I am, with you."
"Oh, great then. I have a great excuse to leave." She stood up.
"Please." I pointed to the door. She grabbed her coat and purse and then walked away clicking her heels to the floor. I sighed and shook my head. Why are all women so complicated? How am I ever going to survive life with her?
