Adora was brought out of her thoughts as the engine roared to life, she turned to apologise about what had happened in the library her uncle raised a hand to stop her. "We will get to what happened back there later, for now I do believe you have a few questions for me."
" A few is an understatement Uncle John."
"Well then, you had better get started, it is only a short ride to that bakery coffee shop place you like and I would only like to talk about this in private.."
"Sweet Haven Uncle John, it's called Sweet Haven," she interrupts.
"Whatever it's called, now get to it."
"Okay then, how long have you had your powers?"
"Since I was twelve."
Adora nods, "Did your parents now?"
"Yes, they were aware of my powers and accepted them actually. Unlike most people, they saw being a mutant as a gift from God, not a curse or disease. However, they knew others would not accept me and helped me learn to control my powers and hide them. I don't know what I would have done without them and I thank God for them every day," he said with a fond smile on his face. Adora started to think about how her parents would react if they ever found out, would they accept her or not. Speaking of her parents,"Do my parents know about you?" The smile faded from his face at the question, "No baby, they do not. I fear they would never accept me if they knew the truth. I do not have any family or real friends left, I can't lose them as well." Well, we are both in the same boat then, we both fear losing the ones we hold dear.
Deciding not to dwell on that train of thought she asks her next question. "What is your power exactly?"
"That's where it gets complicated, you see, I am a multi-gifter. It means I have more than one ability, it's so rare for a multi-gifter to be born that it is nearly a myth. However, that does not mean I am powerful, I am actually on the weaker end of the mutant spectrum. My powers kind of interplay with one another and are all mental-based powers. I can sense peoples emotions as well as see them as an aurora if I concentrate enough.
I am always aware of people being around me and each person, I guess you can say, has their own distinct feeling, kinda like a fingerprint. If it is someone I have meet before I know it is that person instantly because I remember what they feel like." Thinking back to when she was a small child, Adora remembered how she was never able to sneak up on her uncle no matter how hard she tried. "You know that actually explains why I could never sneak up on you when I was a kid. That's cheating by the way." She points out with a smirk.
"No it is not, that's using the ability that God gave me. My powers do not stop there, Benny, I have several more.
While I may not be able to read people's minds I can catch glimpses in their aroura of what they are thinking but I have to concentrate super hard and it usually ends in a extremely painful migraine for me so I avoid doing it. It is also an invasion of people's privacy and I do not like doing that, it's wrong. Only in an extreme emergency will I ever do that, if I have reason to believe that someone is up to something dangerous will I use it. My powers do have a range limit, I can only sense someone in a one mile radius. That may seem like a lot but in a city with thousands of people it is extremely hard to pinpoint just one and the further to the limit the person is the harder it is to sense them. It comes in handy when babysitting and adventurous rug rat I must admit." He receives an elbow to the ribs for that comment. "Hey! do you want me to wreck woman? Besides that's how I knew you were in distress at the library and came running to your side. I can also influence other's emotions to an extent, again I am not that strong of an mutant so I cannot make others do anything against their will. It's more of like a suggestion, however the stronger the person's will power the less likely it is to work."
