Echo's Destiny (Edited/Rewritten Version)

Three - Panic at the concert

  The concert was well into its second hour. The crowd was loving it, they were constantly crying out for more. Luke Ambler was always willing to please his fans. As the cries quietened he walked to the centre of the stage.

"Who wants some more?" He yelled into the microphone. The screams were deafening. Luke laughed "Well I have a few more tricks up my sleeve so shall we get started? This song is called Forever"

As Luke began singing there was a huge roar. It echoed through the room, instilling terror into the hearts of all who heard it. The crowds screams of enjoyment turned into ones of fear. "Please evacuate immediately using the nearest exit. Follow the stewards guidance and please remain calm." A tinny voice said through the speakers.

The crowd began to disperse as quickly as it had gathered. People poured though the doors into the corridors. Echo grabbed her mother's hand so she didn't lose her in the rush to escape. They hurried silently down the corridors following the signs. Another roar echoed through the building causing the people around them to panic.

"Just keep moving!" A steward ordered.

"Tell us what is happening!" A surly guy demanded getting into the stewards face.

The steward just shook his head "We will tell you more once we know more information about the situation. Please remain calm sir."

"Remain calm? How can I remain calm? I brought my daughter here for her birthday and some monster threatens her special day!"

Echo's mother quickly moved her daughter away from the pair before any punches where thrown. Within minutes they were outside in the freezing night air. Echo clung to her mother's hand as they watched the army gather around their commander. "What happened mum?" Echo asked.

Echo's mother looked at the building deep in thought then back at her daughter. "I don't know..."

"I hope Luke got out okay."

I'm sure he did, he's famous they will give him special treatment and he has his own personal guards to protect him." Echo's mother said trying to calm her down.

Neither of the pair notice the commander walking towards them, until he tapped Echo's mother on the shoulder. "You are Oerba de Vanille correct?" He waited until she nodded. "There appears to be a behemoth inside. As you are one of the famous six and are the only one here who has fought one before... well I was wondering if you would help us fight the beast?"

"Of course commander, let me just talk to my daughter for a minute" Vanille said before turning to Echo "Go straight home, I'll come home soon. Don't ask me any questions right now. I will answer them all when I get home. Do you understand Echo." Echo nodded, startled by her mother's authoritative tone. "Good I'll see you later." Vanille kissed her  daughters forehead and walked of with the commander leaving Echo to walk home alone confused about the nights events.
