Centuries ago, a lake house stood by California. A family visited it often in the year, generation to generation. The lake house was color brown with a blue marine roof and three floors. It was enough for a big family, and owned by eldest of them. The family always seemed to enjoy their reunions, seeing each other in one place without any pressure and all at the same time. The children always ran to the playground, they enjoyed sliding down the slide, swinging in the swings and playing board games all the time before it got dark. The adults were usually having a good time, laughing, talking, and sometimes drinking.

The first generation of that family has been planning this lake house or reunion point since 1893, and the house was build in 1901, honoring their ancestors, whom have been there since the beginning. It was built out of dark oak wood with metal on the borders and a zinc roof. The floor was a white wood with some oak.

After a few decades, the lake house got abandoned. In 1939, World War II began, and the family members who didn't live in America, didn't dare to go anywhere since the crisis began. Unfortunately, the members who lived there didn't live for much longer as the others did, since a mysterious fire burnt down the house, murdering the ones who lived there and the visitors. The lake dried out, fish died, plants withered, and most of the family didn't live after that night. The other members were called after the incident and had to leave the United Kingdom for their members funerals.

After a few months, there was a whisper around the house saying "Come honey, come, you'll be safer here," the sound of a mother, calling out for her children. When the whisper stopped, the house crumbled.

There was part of the family members from the U.K. preparing it for sale.

After a few years, the house was renovate by a fund racer made from the remaining members. The house had all the same antic furniture and wallpapers to relive the past with pictures and everything. Everything was almost the same. As the days passed, few people noticed that the house seemed different. Few groups of children had passed around the house, where they have never been on that side of the lake, and have been warned to not come near the house. Most of the parents have grounded their children but others did not care.

One day, a child went to the house and knocked the door. The door opened and hit the wall. The child was startled as he saw a plant withering of no water in a brown pot. The plant had the only spot of light found in the house. Then, he saw a black rat with blood falling from it's eyes and mouth. It didn't had all of it's legs, it's teeth were many and filled with blood. The child, filled with fright, screamed and ran away.

The nearest neighbors lived on the other side of the lake. They have never been to the lake house since it was abandoned, and they won't dare to enter after what happened. On the other side there was a very small town. There was a small bank, a supermarket, a sheriff station, and two restaurants with bars. They lived happy, even though they were poor. They lived far away from other towns, and the electricity and water constantly went out. Most people that had lived in the town, had to move out for the big cities where everything was better.

Ever since that day, the town folks have thought that the lake house was dangerous. They built fences around the town to be safe, and the adults have been told to tell their children only one thing: "Don't go to the other side of the fence," the children usually challenge their parents and say, "Or what?" Then, their parents would tell them "You'll easily get lost."

Some children didn't like the idea, but others kept pushing them until they knew about the house. The children were terrified of what was on the other side and wanted to be safe inside the fence.

The fence only had one exit and entrance. The villagers needed a special permission from the sheriff to get outside the fence, and follow a road that directly headed to the free way of California. The sheriff had to go around the edges of the fence during the night or early in the morning to verify for the stableness of the wall and for the curiosity of children.

But one night, the nonbelievers or the stories of the lake house planned to investigate the unknown history of the lake house. There were three teens, two boys and one girl. They gathered information about the lake house, and were ready to investigate, and solve the mystery that everyone feared.
