It was just like any other day in the League. I awoke early to get a little tune up before the battles began. I didn’t want my claw jamming up trying to chase down someone. I often just let Rumble look me over; he was such a nerd with mechanics.

Before I made it to the mechanics room an announcement boomed over the P.A. system.  “All Champions please report to the main lobby,” I knew what it was about the moment they summoned us. It would have to be the new champion everyone was gossiping about.

I was hopeful for a new friendship and perhaps a better understanding of others. The only thing they really knew about the new champion was that it was a girl named Orianna from Pitover. Caitlyn only shrugged, saying the only girl she knew from Pitover with such a name had died several years ago.  Caitlyn clamed to know everyone there, being their sheriff but perhaps this girl had been a new resident.

When I arrived at the lobby I quickly approached Caitlyn, she smiled, a hopeful look on her face, “Good morning Caitlyn!” I huffed.

She gave me a nod, “Same to you Blizcrank, I have come to a conclusion about this new champion,”

I cocked my head and looked at her as she continued, “I was there when Orianna died, I stopped by my home town and met with her for a moment. She was a hopeful girl that dreamed of joining the league. She was killed during training. Perhaps C has joined the league under a fake name,”

I looked at the floor, worried if she was correct. It was strange to think someone among us was a cold blooded criminal… other than the obvious ones. My head quickly then shot up when the doors opened. I was happy to have been built so large, despite the excited crowd I was able to see her clearly.

If I had a heart it would have stopped. My jaw extended open and I was shocked I didn’t begin to overheat. She was the most beautiful piece of metal I had ever laid my eyes on. She was a small robotic girl, she moved gracefully as she entered the lobby. A large eclectic ball protectively floated around her head.

Everyone quickly swarmed her, asking questions and such. I stood there, frozen. I was indeed love struck. I didn’t waste my time joining the crowd around her to get the information I needed, instead I quickly made my way to the treasury.

Normally when I entered the vault I would take a moment to look at all of the interesting and amazing items and try their different effects but not now. I quickly ran to large pillow where several rings sat. I grabbed small stone ring, it was simple but effective.  It was shaped a little like an octagon but would slide on her thin metal finger perfectly I was sure.  I would have to drop off 475 gold later but I was sure this would be worth it.

Quickly I found my way to the metal marvel and gave her my best smile; it was perfect because I didn’t have to worry about appearing too robotic. Normally I would worry my features weren’t human enough but with her I could be myself, she would understand.

We would fight together on the fields of justice and fall in love, get married, maybe assemble a child together. I could see our lives together now, growing rust together and glitching up. People could write romantic fan-fiction on us.

She still had a bunch of the other champions around her, still trying to learn all they could but I didn’t care. I was in love and wanted to shout it to the world. I dropped down on one knee and held the ring out for her to take.

“You are the most beautiful piece of machinery I have ever seen and it would honour me if you were to become my wife!” I blurted out without processing my words.

Tristana and Poppy began to giggle, Taric’s jaw fell open and Udyr just shook his head at me. Orianna cocked her head to the side and took the ring, she examined it carefully before slipping it on her finger. Her eyes connected with mine and what I hoped would be a romantic moment of pure joy was actually quite disappointing.

There was nothing in her eyes, no emotions or feelings, not a single hint of love. “Ravage,” She suddenly said in a mechanical empty voice and before I knew it a large metal ball emerged from behind her and hurtled towards me.

It rammed into my chest, knocking a huge chunk out of my health, I was sure. I stood there for a moment looking between her and the strange ball. Before I could ask any questions, the ball opened and shot out a wave of electrical energy.

By that point I was laying on the floor twitching from the shock. The image of our romantic lives together had shattered. I had a feeling the only connection we would have would be when my claw grabs her arm and pulls her into my Static Field.
