I met Danny in the lobby at exactly 10 for brunch. I wore a green, patterned maxi dress, my Chanel sunglasses and a cream colored Panama hat to keep it casual yet still show that I tried. For some reason I wasn't nervous about our little "date" if I could even call it that. Danny seemed like an easy person to get along with, especially since he wasn't Carson. I shook my head to get that idea out of my mind, I shouldn't be thinking about Carson at all.
"Hi, you look beautiful." Danny greeted me, standing up from where he sat, wiping his hands on his pants in what seemed like a nervous gesture. "Have you ever been to Croissant Croissant?"
"I don't believe so." I flashed him a toothy smile, suddenly becoming excited to actually be out dating. It was about time. I had spent so much time not thinking about men and not wanting to date due to my father's health issues.
"Well if you love breakfast food, you'll love it. It's French." I linked my arm in his and followed him through the semi busy streets of New York City. The weather was perfect and it seemed as if it was going to be a perfect day.
"I would have never of guessed it was French." I joked around, throwing him a smirk. Danny wore khaki fitted dress pants, a white button up rolled to his elbows, with a pair of brown dress shoes. His outfit was completed with his glasses, a bow tie and his hair slicked down in a dressed up hipster fashion. He dresses so nicely compared to Carson. I thought to myself. Wait, why was I comparing him to Carson. I mentally shook the thought from my head. I needed to stop doing that.
We made our way to the little cafe, where Danny was quickly greeted by an older waitress, maybe late forties. The decor was Parisian and reminded me of Paris, a place I had yet to visit. I quickly made a mental note to bring it up to my mother before I returned my attention to the waitress.
"Danny! Good to see you again." She gave him a motherly smile before turning her attention to me. "And who is this?"
"Elsa, always a pleasure. This is Lucy." He introduced us as we made our way behind her to a small booth. Elsa handed us our menus and said she would be right back with our water.
"So Miss Lucy, tell me more about yourself?" Danny smiled a lot, his dimples always peeking out at me.
I cleared my throat, settling down in my seat. "What did you want to know?"
"Just anything and everything. What do you do?"
I blushed slightly embarrassed. I nervously laughed to myself. "I must confess, I don't do anything. I've only been here for about a month, so I'm mainly working towards my citizenship. And having some much needed fun."
"Nothing wrong with that." Danny chuckled. "What do you want to do?"
"I would love to be a nurse, but my mother would never let that happen. She calls it a peasants job." I rolled my eyes as I thought about my mother. "She thinks I should just marry someone and become a house wife who attends charity events and hosts dinner parties."
"Your mother is something else." He shook his head and pushes his glasses up.

Brunch with Danny was wonderful and soon enough we were walking back to our building. We parted our separate ways and I smiled all the way to the apartment. Danny was a complete gentleman, and was probably the kind of guy I should be focusing on but yet there was something in the back of my head telling me something was wrong. I ignored it.
The entire time I had been receiving messages from
I texted Lily and Keeley in our group text about my date.
Me: it went great, he's super sweet.
Lily: bring him to the club tomorrow night! I need to meet him :)
Keeley: I agree. Although I don't know if hipster writer is your type Lucy.
Me: I'll bring him tomorrow. Don't worry Key, I don't have a type. :p
