At The Switch 2014, The Age of Awesomeness failed to defeat Shout Out and Frank Hankmen for the VW Written Age Tag Team Championship in a tables match. Hankmen powerbombed Nicky Veil from the ring to the stage ramp, only to be speared by him and have his head hit the titantron. Veil would comeback with 3 Jumping Up Enerjizers to Hankmen, and Death Veil would hit his Double Underhook DDT on the ramp to Shout Out, though it would not be enough Hankmen Suplexed Veil through a table to win. Later in the night, Hunter defeated Nightfall to unify the VW and RECW Championships.

At Legends, The Age of Awesomeness failed again in a ladder match. Veil was pushed off a ladder to the ring side area, though he later connected with a front flip senton off the latter. Death Veil sandwiched his opponent in the turnbuckle by setting up the ladder on him and hitting a crossbody. Veil would later be pushed off the ladder and fall through two tables, while Death Veil hit his DDT to Hankmen and hit a front flip senton bomb of his own. Death Veil would climb the ladder before being knocked off by the eventual winner, Shout Out. Later in the night, Fear was thrown off the window balcony by his rival, thus taking him out of action. Luckily, a mattress caught him and prevented his death.

After this second loss, Death Veil turned on his cousin and had his promotion, Golden Dream Wrestling, invade Veillien Wrestling. The feud would effect everyone as many GDW stars attacked and defeated Veillien stars, soon capturing almost all the championship gold. At Wounds of War in October, Nicky and Death Veil fought in a Street Fight. Nicky Veil would steal Death Veil's finisher, hitting it off the top rope through a table. Nicky beat Death with a stick, though Death Veil managed to hit a Neckbreaker off a ladder. It proved to be in vein as Veil tapped him out with the Vise Versa.

Death Veil soon weaseled his way into a VW Heavyweight Championship tables match against Hunter at Destruction though, and even though Hunter went shoulder first through a table (on his own so the match continued), he came back with a Hunter's Gun and before he managed to suplex Veil through a table, he was hit in his groin by a GDW wrestler, thus losing the match and the title. GDW would use these tactics to win the Universal, Hardcore, Cruiserweight, and Tag Team titles in the coming months.
