The morning was bright and obnoxious. I cracked an eye open and groaned. The sun was shining directly in my line of sight. Straining I took in my semi-clean room. Ian. I sat up in bed quickly. My covers toppled into my lap revealing last night’s attire. Oh, crap. I checked my clock. Eight o’clock. Everyone probably would already be up. Yes, even on a Saturday. Ian at nine.
Jumping out of the bed I changed quickly into my pajamas, and grabbed a fresh set of clothes before heading to the bathroom. Ug. So groggy. Quickly, I got ready, pulling up a wet ponytail from the shower, wearing dark rinse blue jeans, and a black derby winner Woot shirt. Running back to my room, I put on sneakers before pulling a bag out, and stuffing work-out clothes into it. Hurrying down the stairs I nearly ran over my mother.
“Sorry mom, running late. Love you. Bye,” I exclaimed.
Jared was standing in the way of the front door with his arms crossed and a furrowed brow when I got to the landing. “Food first.”
“But I’m late! I overslept!” I complained outraged as I followed him into the kitchen. There wasn’t a chance he would let me go without breakfast.
“Food first.” See? “You didn’t eat much last night.” Ah, he noticed that, huh? “Cheerios and a banana at least, and I’ll give you a ride.”
“Ok, ok, but Ian’s picking me up.”
“Well, he can wait a bit then. It’s not like you won’t hoover it down anyways.” As quickly as I could, without choking (very important), I fixed and ate the bowl of cereal and fruit, said goodbye, and ran out the door.
Ian stood leaning against a beautiful black Aston Martin V12 Vanquish. My jaw dropped.
“Jared!” I called. Within seconds he was at my side just as speechless. Jared seemed equally if not more astonished than I was. “Wow.”
“Praise be to the deity of fine automobiles,” Jared finally spoke as he made his way around the car. I walked to stand next to Ian.
Wrapping an arm around my waist Ian said, “I thought a more conventional means of transportation would be appropriate. Was I wrong?” Turning to finally look away from the vehicle to see Ian’s worried expression as he watched Jared ogling the Vanquish. I smiled.
“No, conventional was good. This type of car’s not the norm around here though. Is there anything about you that isn’t exceptional?” Ian glanced at my smiling face and visibly relaxed.
“I’ll let you take a ride some other time, my man,” Ian spoke to Jared. Looking up from his car lust, Jared vigorously nodded his head reverting back to speechlessness. Leading me over to the passenger side, Ian opened the door, and I sat down on the buttery smooth black leather seat. I looked to Jared while buckling up as Ian shut the door, and went around the vehicle to get in his self. I gave Jared a goofy grin, and stuck my tongue out at him.
Turning to Ian as he buckled up I asked, “How fast does it go?”
Ian laughed, “Fast!” I squealed as he punched the gas heading out of the city. It felt like only seconds before he drove through a set of large black gate doors leading down a long and narrow path lined with trees.
“Where are we?” I asked as I took in the surrounding. This place was beautiful. Trees of every kind stood in their autumn glory.
“My family’s estate.”
“Your estate? As in I’m meeting them today?”
“Later on perhaps. We’ll head to the back of the lot where we have the proper place to spar.” He wasn’t kidding. We took a little off shoot from the main driveway, and parked in front of a building that looked to be the size of the first floor of my house. Inside looked like a complete gym: Mats on the floor with an area for weight lifting in the corner, as well as other different kinds of exercise machines were along the walls.
