Stiff and sore, I sat up holding my head. I clenched my eyes hissing in pain. My head pounded feeling like I had been slammed against the wall my head taking most of the impact. It took a moment to get over it; squinting my eyes slightly the morning sun shining though my window causing it to be ten times worst, looking over at my broken mirror. My eyes were puffy from crying and my cheeks red from the cold that had entered my room. I shrugged off my ruined shirt and pants from yesterday rubbing my eyes slowly exhausted.
Slowly standing and grabbing clothes and slipping them on I walked down slowly towards the kitchen a bit dizzy and light headed. The fresh smells of morning breakfast came out and hit me hard as I looked in seeing Cathy cooking and making eggs with ham and waffles. I grinned going over grabbing some ham before Cathy scolded me for taking her freshly made breakfast right from under her.
"Theo! What do you think you are doing young man?" She scolded hands on her hips with her wooden spoon in one hand shaking her head.
"Eating, what else?" I said grinning. She laughed and started smiling still shaking her head as she turned back to her cooking.
That's when I noticed the entire kitchen was buzzing with activity as pans of different pastries and foods were laid out on the counters by everyone else. I frowned looking at all that food. We didn't have that many people even with all the maids and slaves.
Cathy saw me frowning and spoke up, "The king and his son are coming over for dinner. Your father requested I make the best dishes I've ever made. Gosh it has been a while since your father has done that," She laughed beaming with delight at me.
I put my hand over my mouth my skin turning pale my stomach churning. I forgotten all about the fact I was to marry the prince. I trembled running outside dry heaving slightly trying to get fresh air. I can't. I-I just can't marry him. I don't even know him!
I looked around making sure no one saw me running past the horse stalls onto the trail leading to the forest on the edge of the fields. No one saw me as I ran into the Sycamore trees hidden from sight by now.
Only one spot calmed me more than anything else in this world that I know of. Jogging to my special place, I found the small clearing of trees standing in a circle with a small pit in the middle. The trees seem to reach their branches over me blocking the sun off my skin. Feeling protected here I sat down in the middle of everything, feeling safe and secure. I've not been here in so long, I thought. Something about this place just seems so calming and serene compared to anywhere else and I never knew why.
Relaxing slowly, time moved quickly here as the sun danced in the sky moving from one side to the other my eyes closing. The forest came alive around me the air dancing upon my skin, the earth comforting my body as I laid back, water swirling nearby in the creek, animals moving around in the forest. How could you not feel serene in a place like this?
Images flashed behind my eye lids of a battle I've never seen before, right in this very place. Screams, cries for help echoed all around me as I stood upon this hill. The enemies were lifted up into the sky by dragons and destroyed with magic by elves. Looking by me, I looked at a man in gold armor with a silver cloak holding his hands up suddenly his enemies flying up in the air and earth flying like arrows whistling through the air.
Crack! My eyes flashed open instantly sitting upright. I clenched my jaw, heart beating quickly, palms sweating. What was that? I thought thinking of the vision. I tried to look around, but the sun had descended behind the mountains already. I must have been out for far too long, I thought shaking my head still unsure of what I had seen.
