My step mother put her head out at the wrong moment as an arrow barely missed her head making her fall back into the coach screeching. I shook my head realizing the slaves went silent and found places to get cover and most of our convoy was made up of soldiers. Blood pounded in my ears as the adrenaline kicked in and I faced the oncoming enemy.
Pulling the string back with the arrow notched, I released the string as the arrow hit a man in the chest. Aiming again moving faster, finding my rhythm, another man fell dead before my arrow and lay dead behind my father. My dad looked back seeing my arrow sticking out of the man and laughed smiling. He had gotten off his horse, his cloak lying on his saddle while swinging his sword taking out soldier after soldier who dared challenge him. I watched his back shooting arrow after arrow into any of his attackers he couldn't see.
I ran out of arrows quickly and replaced my bow for my two dual blades. Jumping off Shayla, I joined the battle on the ground gracefully running between our soldiers and efficiently killing the enemy. Every time I swung my swords they brought down another person blood flowing underneath the silver. I aimed for the weak points of every man taking over fifty down. Just as I finished the man before me a booming laugh sounded behind me.
"So this is the son of John Lockheed and Julia Lockheed? Nothing more than a whelp!" the man who stood before me was two feet taller than the tallest man here taking down the king's men so easily beneath his great sword. A seasoned veteran of the blade, the men were out maneuvered and killed so quickly and he laughed at all the pain he caused as he walked towards me.
Adjusting my grip the gem around my neck glowed slightly. I watched every movement this man took towards me analyzing his fighting style. The breath left me as he stood before me smirking.
The air stirred by my cheek barely dodging his sword as it came crashing down above me. Swinging my own sword it clashed against his before he readjusted and came at me faster swinging his sword sideways. I jump back as it barely misses my gut.
Looking at the crazed man before me laughing, I moved faster than I thought I could and swung both my blades down on his leg only leaving a scratch but still causing him to grunt and scrunch his face in pain. My lips moved into a smirk while looking at him getting out of his reach as everyone else fought around us.
His anger only grew after that moment and he grew careless with rage aiming to kill me swinging as fast and as hard as he could. My strength waned with every strike I had to block personally. I barely blocked his last shot at me before I growled.
"Aye, your a fast one aren't ya?" the giant of a man laughed at it and pulled his sword above his shoulder. I heard my name being yelled, but my focus was on my opponent before me.
"Maybe or your just slow," I responded with a small smile to my lips. The man laughed and pointed his blade at me his eyes a glow with desire.
"I like your attitude maybe I'll just have to take you for myself," the look in his eyes turned sinister as his tongue caressed his lips. His sword came swinging again at me slamming against my own blades and forcing me off my balance. I quickly adjusted my feet still getting use to fighting after so many years of not practicing.
He noticed and came at me harder this time only slowing his pace to implement more power with each stroke. My arms and legs began to buckle underneath me as I grunted looking at him towering above me. I slid his sword off and jumped backwards as the gem on my neck burned brighter causing the air to vibrate. The older man took a cautious step toward me pointing at the stone.
"I see you have the pendant your mother use to wear. Did you ever hear how your mother died?" He smirked and swung his sword around him.
"She died from sickness," I whispered looking at him daring him to come closer.
