"Jack. Jack, wake up." Jack groggily opened his eyes. They soon focused to rest on Amy. "Come on Jack, rise 'n shine." She shook him until he sat up and waved her away. "I'm coming,I'm coming, now go away." Amy smiled and waved as she left his tent.
A few minutes later, he stepped outside and smiffed the air. A slightly sour smell, the natural smell of the air since the Great Disaster, mixed with the smell of the morning gruel permeated the air. He went over to the mess table and sat down next to Lucius. "Sup Jack, how's it goin'?" Jack ignored him and dug into his gruel. Lucius watched him until he finished eating. "Good gruel?" Once again Jack ignored him and commenced telling him what to do for the day. "Okay, I want you and John to go on border patrol before we break camp." Lucius groaned at the thought. "Make sure you sweep out at least three miles all around the camp. If there's no problems we'll meet up at Knight's Trail. You got it?" Lucius just grunted, nodded, and left. Jack stared after him for a while, then shrugged and got up to start directing the camp's unpacking and departure.
"We're under attack! Sound the alarm! We're under attack!" The alarm sounded all throughout the camp, herald to the flurry of activity that ensued. Jac, stopped what he was doing immediately and ran to get his gear. After he strapped on his armor and weapons, Jack went to go find Amy.
Jack knelt beside Amy behind a invincisteel barrier in front of the main gate.
" Miss anything?" Jack asked. Amy glanced at him, silently answering his question. Jack turned his attentions to the gate, leveling his trademark, modified Atom 402 assault blaster with an ion grenade launcher attachment. Jack and the Rebels waited.
A deep booming sound penetrated the silence, increasing in volume and frequency, until one of the gate sentries spotted the item in question. "Charger! Get out the way! I repeat, get out th-AGGHH!" The sentrie's warning abruptly cut off with his throaty death cry. The Charger skidded to a stop, barely missing some of the front lines of Rebels. Itscrimson eyes swept the area, rage visible in it's features.
The monster was at least 8 feet tall with huge, shiny metal horns. Its right hand was instead a large, permasteel hoof. The left one was a massive, bloated, meaty hand, pulsating cables interwoven into its flesh. The face was a gruesome mix of bull hide, rotten, infected flesh, tinged green with decay, and exposed bone. It had a large metal faceplate, designed to protect the eyes of the monster.
The Charger then let out a thunderous roar... and charged.
