Aang's point of view
After leaving Katara to the rest of her work and agreeing to meet back up for dinner, I made my way to the Northern Water Tribes Chiefs room. When I reached the correct door I knocked, you see I was discussing how to make the society more equal in opportunity for both genders. While I wasn't expecting change fast it was going much slower than I had hoped. The Chief was highly adverse to my ideas on making water-bending classes for everyone and letting the women choose whom they got married to. And eventually letting them join the army if they wanted to. But all of my proposals were getting shot down.
Katara was teaching a group of women how to use water bending to heal and that was as far as the chief was willing to go. When I wasn't helping the builders rebuild damage to the tribe I was discussing politics with the Chief. He just wouldn't take me seriously no matter how hard I tried almost everyone still treats me as a child who doesn't know what I'm doing except for Katara.Toph's P.O.V
I had never realized that some earth benders were so incompetent. Everyone I tried to teach metal bending to couldn't do it worth schist. Only one young child held any promise and she was so adorable. She hadn't been able to bend the metal but she could dent it with lots of hard concentration. Sokka had been visiting every time he passed from the southern to northern water tribes and back because I was on the way but I hadn't seen anyone else in about a year, and yes I mean that figuratively obviously I've never "seen" anyone, can you be that thick?
Anyway, the little girl is 8 but she's an orphan so I'm thinking of maybe taking her out of the orphanage and she can be my apprentice, and I know people are going to think I'm crazy. "A blind 15 year old is going to take care of an 8 year old?!" Honestly you are probably right but I'd like to teach her now while she's young and she hasn't built herself a huge ego yet.
Zukko's P.O.V
I surfaced for air and the went back in for another kiss, but Sukki pushed back lightly with a puzzled look in her eyes
"What about Mai? I don't really know her but that doesn't make this right" She said softly
"You're right but last time I spoke to her she told me she was done and that I had best forget about her. I don't know what that means in relationship terms but maybe I should ask her?" I asked feeling guilty I hadn't even thought about it but then she giggled
"Zukko you're such a dimwit, that's a break up."She said laughing
"I like it when you laugh it's beautiful" I responded ignoring her dimwit comment, while I watched her cheeks get even redder with blush and her giggle get louder until she started snorting as she laughed.
"Did you just snort?" I asked in amusement
"Shut up Zukko"She said still laughing and snorting.
"I'm a prince you can't call me a dimwit or tell me to shut up" I said laughing as I reached over and tickled her stomach both of us laughing until we were giggling messes on the floor.
Sokka's P.O.V
Not talking to Sukki for so long had left me in kind of a self destructive state for quite a while. I had all my thoughts focused on specific things I had to do. I hadn't even stopped to talk to Aang or Katara the last time I was in the Southern Water tribe. The only person I had even had non work related conversations with was Toph, and even those ended with me crying and Toph hugging me. I'd been so embarrassed I hadn't answered the letter she sent asking me to visit on the way back. I'd gone anyway to get punched for not answering back and then we talked for a really long time about different things. It ended with us so relaxed and tired that we fell asleep on the same couch. Which I'm trying to deal with at the present time being that Toph is lying on her side next to me. Her face is so peaceful that for once she looks her age 15 not 30. Her hair was down almost making me chuckle at how poofy it was. Suddenly I noticed a shift in her breathing and I knew she was awake.
Toph's P.O.V
I woke up to Sokka staring at me but I was comfy so I stayed where I was pretending to sleep.
"Hey Toph, do you wanna let me up" He asked chuckling slightly.
"Not possible sorry" I answered not yet ready to go back to my life
"Fair enough"He answered still chuckling, making my heart flutter. I knew Sokka and me wasn't happening, but still. We laid there for another 30 or so minutes when Sokka shifted a little. I groaned loadly showing him my displeasure.
"Toph, I have to get water I feel like my throat is on fire, i'll be right back." He said, I could hear the sincerity of his words so I let him go. And when he got back I let him back onto the couch and I cuddled into him for warmth.
Katara's P.O.V
Aang seemed upset when we met for dinner, he had started making me more traditional monk food and I had to admit it was delicious, although the lack of meat was a bit saddening all of it was good. Especially desert. But tonight he asked if we could pick something up. "Aang, what's wrong?" I asked gently.
"Hmmm?" He answered obviously preoccupied with his thoughts.
"Aang?"I asked again.
"Yeah, sorry I was just thinking of the specific law they have against women is to protect the women right?"he asked
"Well, yeah" I answered
"I think I have a solution. If the law is set up to protect the women is it really protecting them? I mean wouldn't they be more protected if they knew how to defend themselves? I mean I'll have to word it differently for the Chief but it would work right? They not be able to join the army but they could be the last defense to protect children and elderly. Yeah?" He said excitedly smiling as he had finally found the loophole in the law.
"Aang you're a genius!"I said before standing on my tippy toes to kiss him. his arms moved around my waist picking me up and swinging me around once before setting me back down with one last peck and a grin reaching his ears.
