Blood dripped down the side of the Adrian's face. I breathed slowly, then took the towel on the side of the bed and gently wiped it away. I looked at his hollow faces in front of me. What had they done to deserve this? Why had it been them and not me? Stop thinking about it I told myself. I focused on my mother. Her expression was as hard as stone. She stared at her sons face and a finally a single tear slipped out. Then it seemed to hit her. They could die and there wasn't anything she could do, even with her medical training. More tears trickled out and I felt no desire to comfort her. She had never been there for me. All I cared about was Adrian and Raven. They always took care of me. It was my turn to give them something in return. I worked harder on making them comfortable. I turned on the air to keep them cool. I combed their hair and washed their faces with a wet rag. I kept myself busy until the doctor came in and rolled their body's away for a major surgery . I tried my hardest not to think about how much they looked like corpses. I turned to my mother and looked at her puffy, red eyes. Then I walked out. I caught up to the doctor and asked when the surgery would be completed. 16 hours is a lot of time to kill. I walked slowly trying to remember some times I spent with my dad. They had always been happy. We used to walk to the park and play on the structures. Everyday after he got home from work he would teach me little songs or play tag with me and Adrian. I awoke drunk on memories. I hadn't noticed where my feet had lead me. I was in indigos neighborhood. I picked up the pace and headed up the rickety ramp to the roof entrance on her home. It was on the second floor, very unsafe. I looked at the rusty front door and let myself in. Indigo was watch watching a drama on the hologram. " I need you Gwen, I do!" The man wailed on the screen. "Indigo? Can I talk to you?" I said shutting the door with a quiet thud. " Sure Jadey, what do you nee... Oh my god. What the heck happened to you?" Looked in the mirror and I noticed the dry blood caked on my fingers and arms. I did look pretty horrible. Here she turned on the shower and gave me a towel. "Get that stuff off of you. Then we'll talk." She said sternly. I moaned and headed inside the restroom.
