I walked into school dreading the day already. Today was Friday, but it was also the day where Mrs. Mansfield selects partners for the 'Marriage Project'. I was excited but I wasn't at all.
Only seniors get to do the 'Marriage Project' so that's good, not.
There were 22 people in my Home EC class which means I have a 20 and 21 chance I'll be put with Hayes. The popular jock of the school. Why would I not want to be put with him? Well I hate his guts, that's why. Why do I hate him? It's a long story. Most people just think it's it's a battle for popularity. That's not even close. A fight between two of the most popular kids in the school. Usually in movies the popular girl and the popular boy are dating. Well not in this case.
6 hours had and them the dreaded last hour arrived.
I walked to Home Ec. Apparently I was a few minutes late because when I walked in everyone's heads turned to me like I had killed someone.
"Class look Bailey has arrived, now we can start." Mrs. Mansfield said pointing to my seat. I took a seat next toy best friend Sarren.
"Okay class as you know we, well I am picking your partner for the 'Marriage Project'. So lets get started." the class seemed to have a variety of emotions.
"Mitchell and...Alex. Blake and Rilee." A bunch of 'oohs' and 'awws' came from the class every time a group was assigned.
"You ready? Only Calum and Hayes are left. Sorry, but I really want to be put with Calum." Sarren said squeezing my hand.
"Okay last two groups." Mrs. Mansfield started and I stared to get sweaty. "Sarren and......Hayes. Which leaves Bailey and Calum."
'YESS' I mentally high-fived myself.
Calum raised his and, "Umm...Mrs. Mansfield can Bailey and I switch?" Oh no. Please say no. Please say no.
"If that's okay with Hayes. Then why not? Hayes is that okay?"
Hayes looked at me and smirked and then said one word that changed my entire senior year. Good and bad. "Yes. It's fine. I would love to be partners with Bailey."
"Then it's settled. Bailey and Hayes are partners." I let my head hit the table and I just imagined how the senior year is going to play out.
