"Er...Hey Noah." I replied meekly.
Yup, that's Noah.
Noah McKinley.
This guy is ridiculously hot and should be the called the sexiest man alive. I know it's a bit wrong and weird to have a minor crush on the guy who has absolutely made my life a living hell but I can't help it. Ever since I walked into art class as a mere child, he was the first person I laid my eyes on and incidentally, I was the apple in his eye too. And this is when all hell broke loose. First, he started off with mindless things such as poking me with a pen and a ruler, spilling orange juice on the floor directly below me and shouting out "ELLA PEED
HERSELF!" and pouring a bucket of ice down my top. Then it escalated to chopping off half my hair, pushing me on to a busy road which nearly got me run over by a truck and tearing up my neatly written school work and throwing it in mud.He is just a typical asshole. I still had no idea why I liked him in the first place.
It's definitely not because of his striking green eyes. Or the way his hair is tousled in every direction and his sides are shaved to the minimum so a slight mohawk can be seen. Or his radiant smile that could make someone's heart stop for a few seconds. Especially his lips. Don't even get me started on his lips. So like I said before, no idea why I liked him in the beginning. Besides, it's hard to shake off a girls first crush.
He must've caught me staring at him as he snapped his fingers in front of my face. I immediately tilted my head down, with my eyes pressed shut, waiting for him to push me down to the floor like he always does.
"Well?"
"Well what?" I looked up at him confusingly.
"Aren't you going to apologize?"
Okay, now I'm really confused. "Apologize for what? For tripping?" If he is seriously making me apologise for running into him, he must be incredibly dense. It was his fault for standing right in front of me.
"No, for making me waste my energy saving you. I was hoping for someone more...girly. Not fricking Scout Finch." he spat back.
Scout Finch? Wait a minute, did he just name a character from a Pulitzer Prize winning novel? Forget the fact that he compared with a tomboy but I am really shocked that he knew about How to Kill a Mockingbird. That's a book. With words might I add. This boy is just full of surprises. "Well then I guess you should've paid more attention to people around you and not stand in their way." I would like to say that I'm not scared of him but lying is a sin. I occasionally talk back to him but I never push the limit. He is physically strong and the amount of fights he had just in the past month should speak for itself.
He arched his eyebrow, "You're seriously not putting the blame on me are you? I should've just let you hit your arse on the floor." He took his phone out and man was it a nice one. It was one of the touch ones but I didn't know which one. I am very uneducated in the area of technology. I knew how to use it but I don't know whether I am using it right.
He breathed out exasperatedly. "Great, now I'm late to class thanks to you. Don't let me see your face around anymore."
"You can't even see her face because of that stupid hood," Ryder joined in. I didn't even see him standing there until he spoke. Ryder was Noah's best friend and he did whatever Noah told him. So, in other words, a sheep. He was always second to Noah for almost everything, even for girls. Whenever Noah rejects a girl, which is rare, that girl will immediately go to Ryder. Noah and Ryder are basically on the school's 'Most Wanted' list. Both in bed and by the police. One time, I heard that they both beat up a shopkeeper just because he refused to sell them alcohol. The poor guy ended up in a coma for three days! Though I haven't seen it with my own eyes, everyone in school was talking about it and I know that rumours can't be trusted but it is believable.
Snapping back to the present, the name calling happens every single day in and out of school, so I am used to this already. Anything they say has no effect on me whatsoever. I shoved past them and entered my Biology class. I walked as fast as I can to my seat at the back of the class without looking back.
"Hey! I wasn't done talking to you!" shouted Noah, his voice getting closer. I half ran to my seat so I didn't have to face his wrath. As soon as I sat down, I took out my textbook quickly and looked up to see him stomping towards me when Mr Wilson's voice boomed out loud. "Noah. Are you going to be joining us for once.? We've all missed you so very much."
I could see Noah controlling his anger because his eyes went shut, jaw clenching, nose flaring and his fist balled up. Did I mention he has a bit of an anger issue? No one angers Noah unless they want a fight. When he opened his eyes, they were of anguish. I can tell he wanted to punch something badly but he can't. I almost felt sorry for him for his inability to control his feelings. Almost. He stared at me like he was going to murder me. "Yeah sure."
Luckily for me, there was only one seat available and that was in the back of the class, where he's out of my sight. He walked away slowly, gradually sitting down. Ryder already occupied the seat next to him and he looked disappointed somehow. Noah's eyes are still on me, watching me. I quickly turned around, letting out my breath which I've been holding since sitting down.
"Turn to page 268 in your textbooks and make notes on it after reading it." Mr Wilson casually starting the lesson like nothing happened. I never looked back once and I never did.
The bell finally rang an hour later and I sped out of the class so I don't have to face him.
**********
The day passed by slowly and the next thing you know, it's lunch time.
Argh.
Another most hated time of the day.
I don't have a clique where I could just sit with and talk to, so every lunch time, I always sit in my car and eat. But because my car is parked outside school property, I am forced to skip lunch and go to the school library and sit there.
On my way there, I saw Noah french kissing some girl, touching her up, by the entrance of the library.
Did I mention that he is also a player?
Every girl in school swoons over him and would do anything for him. He basically has them wrapped around his pretty finger. Every time he walks past them, they seem to always drop either their books or make up in front of him to get his attention. And when he does help, they bend down to show him some cleavage. The next thing you know, they kiss, right there and then, without any shame.
I remember when I use to be that girl. I tried dropping my books in front of him, but when I did, he just kicked it away, laughing at me as he did.
But why me?
I cleared my throat but they still didn't notice me staring at them. I then tried squeezing through the small space available to get through but they just moved back to block me. That was when I understood that Noah knew I was standing there. He was just blocking me on purpose.
If that's how he wants it then fine! I turned away and walked straight to me locker and sat down in front of it.
I kept asking myself this question,
Why does he hate me? I haven't done anything other than talking to him. I just want someone to like me...
I kept thinking hard about the past and every action I have done that made him this mean to me until the bell went off.
Wow. Lunch flew by quick today. I stood up went to all my remaining classes and as soon as the school bell rang, stating that school's finished, I marched straight to my car and drove to the most dreaded place on earth.
My home.
