Toni’s POV
The next three days, Harry and I had been seeing each other non-stop. I slept at his house every night, and thanks to that my cuddling skills had been improving significantly. I was no longer sitting by myself on the other side of the couch; instead, I was lying on his lap with my head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat.
I woke up a Saturday morning by the sound of something dropping to the ground. I opened my eyes and saw Harry sitting on the ground with clothes all over the floor.
“Harry? Are you okay?” I asked, sitting up on the bed.
“Yeah, ‘m fine. Just forgot that I didn’t close the suitcase I packed yesterday.” he mumbled, picking up the clothes to refold them into the bag. He had been running around the flat like a maniac last night, searching for stuff to wear in the probably hot Spain. I couldn’t help but giggle at him though, looking like he just woke up; his morning hair still visible.
“Here, let me help you.” I said, pulling the cover of my body, crawling towards Harry and the mess of clothes.
“You don’t have to. I made you tea by the way. It’s on the counter.” he stated before pecking my lips.
“Harry, I don’t drink tea. You know that.” I chuckled, folding a pair of jeans.
“Shit! I forgot. I’m sorry, babe. It’s just… so much going on right now. I don’t even want to go to Spain.” he said, looking at me and pouting his bottom lip.
“Let’s not talk about that right now, yeah?” I replied, blocking the haunting fact that he’ll be leaving in only a few hours from my mind.
When his suitcase was packed and ready once again, we went downstairs for some breakfast. Harry made his famous, well to me, pancakes with blueberries and syrup. We ate in front of the TV while watching some comedian trying to be funny. I didn’t find his jokes funny at all, but Harry was almost choking pancakes out of laughter. I stopped paying attention to the television for a second, watching Harry’s eyes as the cringed every time he laughed. He was beautiful. He noticed me staring at him, grinning down at me.
“Hi.” he said, green irises meeting my brown.
“Hello.” I smiled. We were interrupted in our little ‘moment’ by Harry’s phone ringing. He sighed and turned down the TV volume when he saw the ID-caller.
“Hello. Now? I thought we left at 4. Why? Fine, I’ll be ready. Bye.” he mumbled before hanging up, not sounding pleased.
“You’re leaving earlier?” I managed; my throat almost too tight to make a sound. I didn’t want to say goodbye. Not yet.
“Yeah. They’re picking me up in a hour.” he replied, his eyes sad.
Harry’s POV
“Oh.” she said and moved and her to the TV. I should probably go and shower, but I wanted to spend all of the time I had left before I had to go with her. I had a dozen things to do, but they’ll have to wait.
She didn’t say anything for a good twenty minutes. She didn’t even look at me. Nothing. The silence was interrupted by the door bell ringing. In one swift motion she was up, looking terrified towards the door.
“Already?! It’s only been half an hour!” she yelled to the door, walking towards it with firm steps.
“Baby, calm down. It’s only Niall. We’re supposed to wait here together.” I reassured her as she opened the door, her face eyes going wide.
“Oh. Hi Niall.” she said, stepping aside to let him and his luggage in.
“Hello, Toni.” Niall smiled, embracing her into a friendly hug. She smiled back and excused herself for a moment, walking out of the room with her face down.
“What’s with her?” Niall asked, frowning.
“I don’t know. I think she’s a little stressed out about the whole leaving-thing.” I replied, getting up from the couch to take out the dishes in the kitchen.
“Wow. Three weeks and you’ve already got her hooked. Must be a new record.” he said, jumping up on the counter.
“Don’t be silly. You know me better than that.” I muttered.
“Yes I do, but it’s still a bit funny. It took Liam and Dani four months before they held hands for the first time, and you’re pretty much ready to say that you love her.” Niall chuckled. I wanted to reply with something witty and smart, but nothing came to mind.
“Mate, I know that you fall hard and fast, I’ve seen it before, but isn’t this a little much?” he added, his voice worried. I loved that he cared for me, but he didn’t have to dig into mine and Toni’s relationship; that wasn’t his business. I gave him a glare and he threw his hands up in defeat.
“I just don’t want you to do something you’ll regret and end up brokenhearted.” he mumbled under his breath.
“I trust her, okay? She’s different. I can’t do-. “ We were interrupted by Toni clearing her throat in the doorway.
“The car’s here.”
Toni’s POV
I helped Harry with carrying his luggage to the car with a lump in my throat. I had overheard his and Niall’s talk – he trusted me. He thought I was special. I should be happy, but instead it made me nervous. What if I did something wrong and he left me? I wouldn’t be special and his trust would have been for nothing. No, I wasn’t going to let that happen.
“You sure you don’t want to go to the airport?” Harry asked as we stood on his porch, his height towering.
“No, I’m good.” I replied as I put my hands on his shoulders.
“Don’t worry, babe. You won’t even notice I’m gone.” he said, caressing my cheek with his thumb.
“I won’t.” I assured myself. I had to convince myself to make it less painful, but I knew deep inside that I was sure going to notice him being gone. What was I supposed to do for a whole week? Who was going to sneak me away for a dance in the dressing room? Who was I going to improve my cuddles with? I tried not to think about when he went on the real tour. That’d be eight months instead of a week.
“I’ll see you on Thursday, love.” he remarked before leaning in to meet my lips in a sweet kiss. I cupped his face, not wanting to let go. His hands found my hips as I tugged on the loose curls by his ears, making a groan leave his throat. I was kind of surprised by the sound, pulling away to meet his eyes.
“Hurry up, Casanova!” Niall yelled from inside the car. Harry pecked my lips once again before saying goodbye one last time and pulling his hand luggage over his shoulder, heading towards the waiting car.
“Thursday.” I sighed, his kiss still lingering on my lips.
