Author's Note: Guys, I saw many of the messages you sent me asking me to continue this story, but with the decreased amount of time I now have (junior year's no joke, ya know!), it wouldn't be fair for me to just add bits and pieces here and there without it being the amount of hard work it was before. I really only continued this story towards the end because I was getting requests to. I appreciate everything all of you have done for me, and I'm so glad you all like my stories- it meant a lot to me that my voice was heard. And so, as a final thank you- here is the finale many of you have been waiting for. But don't worry, I won't vanish just yet. In fact, check many of my other stories, I think you will see some updates...
She was so glad it was over.
I mean, who wants to stand in high heels and a dress forever? For the second time in a week? Even if it is your own wedding?
Brianne's wedding to Ryker had gone off just as planned earlier in the week- minus a revival of the prank they had once played on her (SEE PREVIOUS STORY FOR THIS REFERENCE). She wasn't mad, but the look in her eye threatened vengeance.
And she had got it.
Ananya knew she was going to do something, but she didn't expect her to take her flats?! The one pair of shoes that was somewhat fancy yet comfortable. Instead, her shoes had gone suspiciously missing, and as she searched frantically, Brianne showed up with a beautiful pair of shoes...except they were heels 4 inches high.
Not cool.
But now. that the wedding was over (Pete was speechless when he saw her coming up the aisle, even though he said she couldn't possibly be prettier than she already was), she could relax, knock back a couple drinks, and just have fun. Brianne, who was her maid of honor, grinned and snickered when she saw Ananya wincing and removing her heels, bringing her back down to Earth. Pete hid a smile, because he knew one bad choice might just cause him problems. After all, Pete, Ananya, Brianne and Ryker were going on their respective honeymoons the following morning to the outskirts of the Amity community where they had a few beautiful log cabins and a waterfall.
Their jobs had afforded them a week off before they had to come back. And they were looking forward to that week. With Dauntless expanding, they had more work than ever, but fun was never too far if you looked well enough (Uriah hadn't stopped shooting muffins off of people's heads)
Tris and Four were in another corner, talking to each other, Tris rather excitedly and Four a bit more calm, but happy nonetheless. As Uriah called out, "Hey Tris! Come get a few drinks with us!", she winced and yelled back, "No thanks Uriah! Not gonna get drunk at my girlfriend's wedding!"
Ananya laughed, but felt a little curious. Tris wasn't anti-drinking, in fact, she would get a couple with her friends occasionally.
As the food was set down, everyone sat down to get ready for the maid of honor and best man speeches.
Brianne, of course, went first, mostly because Ryker disclosed that she would have pummeled him into submission if he wanted to go first.
Brianne started. "Ananya, I've known you a long while, and as we aren't old yet, I don't mind saying how long- even though we were in different factions, I've known you since I was eleven, when some kids bullied me and you stood up, and utterly flummoxed them with your witty arguments. Should've known then that you were Dauntless. Ever since then, you and I have only grown closer and I don't think even our now husbands can pull us apart. You're free to try though, boys! But I want you to know that you deserve every ounce of happiness that you've gotten, and thank you for all the happiness you've provided me. There is nothing more that I can do for you than this: anytime, anyplace, any reason you need me, I'll be there. I would walk with you to the gates of hell...and then pull you back, but no matter where you go, I'll be there. What's a girl without her best friend anyway? And Pete, if you screw up, remember your wife's best friend co-ranked #1 in Dauntless...with her. Good luck, you're gonna need it. So I wish you and Pete all the best for your married life. Nothing's gonna get in your way now."
As I'm tearing up, I'm remembering the speech I gave for her:
"Brianne, I've known you since you had these long bangs that covered your eyes, and I wore pigtails like a classic Erudite. We bonded over our shared fear of volcanoes, and ever since then, we have been inseparable. I know you've experienced pain in your past, but I always told you that this day would come. And now, it has. I know that from now on, Ryker will keep you happy, and not a single tear of sadness will fall from your eyes. And if he doesn't...well, come over. I have a nice collection of weapons you can use...You have proven your strength and your kindness, and this is what will be your best nature and the surety of your happiness. Because no one could be unkind to such a beautiful, caring, and loving person as you. I've experienced your beautiful nature firsthand, and I have to say "Because I knewyou, I have been changed for good" I know that your life will be happy and you will want for nothing, because Ryker loves you like no one else will. So, even though you won't need it, good luck to you, and never lose your heart of gold."
I think things are pretty good- wait, Tris is getting up...
Tris says, "Ananya, we wish you and Pete all the best, and I think you will like this news. You, Christina, and Brianne are getting a new goddaughter! We're having a baby!"
No. Way. AAAAAAHHHHHHH!
Brianne and I take one look at each other and squeal, launching ourselves at Tris with Christina just beating us to the punch. As we hug each other, crying, I can't help but think:
Things can't get any better than this.
Or can they?
