Chapter One

Gaia Henderson had been driving down the lonely highway road for hours now, and hadn't seen anything for miles on in, when she spotted a small truck stop filled with a couple of cars. Pulling her beat up car she turned the car off, and pulled out the map that had been sitting on the passenger's seat beside her. Finding her spot on the map she marked it down and looked for any major or small town's located on the map. When she had found a town she marked her location on the map, before hopping out of the car and making her way towards the small truck stop.

She hadn't spotted it before, but now that she was making her way towards the truck stop she spotted a small diner near it and decided that she'd head into the diner.

Opening the door, she breathe in the mouth watering smell of cheese burgers and fries. Making her way towards the counter, she took a seat in one of the small stools, watching as an older woman working behind the counter walked passed her and made her way down the counter to a trucker stuffing his face.

As she sat waiting to be served she slowly started drumming her fingers on the counter trying to decide where she was going to go. It was time for her to get a fresh start out of life, and to leave everything in her behind her. She decided that all of her troubles would no longer hold her down and as she sat patiently at the counter, she only wanted to know where her life would take her now.

It wasn't long before the woman working behind the counter turned towards Gaia and smiled politely at her.

"What will it be darling?" The woman said.

Gaia returned the woman's smile, taking in her average build and heart-warming smile.

"I'll just have a cheese burger with everything on it and fries please." Gaia said speaking softly at the woman.

"Anything to drink?" The woman asked looking Gaia over once more.

"I'll just have water." Gaia said putting the soft smile back up on her face. She watched as the woman wrote her order down, and turned and walked away.

Now that the woman was gone, Gaia took the opportunity to look around the small diner. She noticed that most of the people in diner where truckers and males, which didn't seem all that surprising to her. There were about five of them, and a couple that sat at the back of the diner talking to each other.

Gaia's eyes landed on a small girl that sat in the corner of the diner. She didn't have any idea, why the girl seemed to catch her eyes, there was something about her that seemed to catch her full attention. Right off the back, Gaia knew that the girl was younger than she was probably by a couple of years. She had beautiful mocha kissed skin, and soft brown eyes that seemed to lack a certain youthful quality in them, she had soft looking black hair that stopped just before it reached the middle of her back. She was wearing a pair of black cut up pants and a dark blue hippie kimono and a black thin tank top. Looking at the girl something called to Gaia telling her to go towards her, but Gaia stayed in her seat not wanting to get involved with the girl. It was clear that the girl didn't want to be bothered and if Gaia knew any better, she'd guess that the girl was probably a stole away.

So turning her attention back towards the front of her, Gaia spotted the woman who had took her order, bringing her, her meal.

Once she had her meal, she thanked the woman behind the counter and reached down and grabbed her burger taking a huge bite out of it. She hadn't eaten anything since early and up until this point she hadn't known just how hungry she was.
