I knew what it would be like to die I saw my life flash before my eyes. My heart was beating out of my chest. Suddenly adrenaline took over and before i knew it my .45 was out and pressed against the Lixaid's chest. I was about to pull the trigger when I was taken by surprise. He started licking my face like a puppy that has been waiting an hour for it's owner to come home. He whimpered and got off me. Even Hunter was shocked. "What just happened?"

"I think this Lixaid likes me." I looked at the lixaid sitting in front of me with his tongue sticking out the side of his mouth. He had a mosterous smile. "I'm gonna keep him!"

"That's crazy it can kill us."

"I don't think Appa will."

"Appa? Did you just name it?"

"Him, and yes. I like 'Avatar The Last Airbender'. Seems to fit the friendly monster."

Hunter trotted into the arena with a blade. I stood in the way. Appa circled in front of me and with his eyes on Hunter with his intensive, guarding, stare.

"Damn it! Fine!" Hunter left me with the over sized, scaly, dog-like creature. I picked up my weapons and sheathed them. I lept on Appa's back. "I can train him. Travel will be faster, Hunter!" Appa looked back at me with his tongue lolling. "Yip, Yip?" My face lit up when he actually listened and started trotting to the exit. I truley am fantastic!

"Well, not bad but you had trouble with creatures that are incredibly easy to kill. I'm slightly worried."

"How long will we stay then?"

"A few days. Just until you can defeat...uh...ten with ease."

"Ten?! Can Appa help?"

"Ummm..."

"Let me gonna reword that. I'm gonna train Appa to help."

Hunter rolled his eyes and flipped his black hair back.

Appa rubbed his beak affectionately against my back.

"Oh, since you like him so much let me tell you about his kind."

"Cool! Lay it on me."

"When he's five years old he grows wings. It takes a few month before he can actually fly though. By the looks of it he's maybe two the others were four probably."

"Sweet!"

"Also this kind of creature is loyal to the pack. He might turn on you, prepare for that."

"Alright. Next fight!"

In the corner of my eye I noticed Hunter face palm. I grinned and trotted Appa to the center. Gates opened and this time five Lixaids came out. I took out the sword and lept off Appa. I took a neon green shoe lace and tyed it to his front paw. As I turned and swung I hit a charging Lixaid and shredded his chest open. I smacked Appa's flank and he charged into an other monster. I kept a smile on my face and my blade in my hand. I unsheathed my bowie knife and lept on Appa. Uh-oh. No neon green.

The creature lept ten feet in the air with rage. I threw my sword into the ground and stood on its back and it fell with enough force for the handle to penetrate it's ribs. I thrusted my feet down and ended it's life. I turned to see Appa huddled in a corner frighten. I whistled and he cautiously trotted over to me. I hopped on his back. "Yip, yip."

He ran in the direction of a cornered Lixaid. I jumped off and let's just pretend I did a cool flip in the air before the blade entered it's side piercing it's heart.

I faced the last two with Appa covering my back. One came charging, Appa hesitantly backed into his corner. I looked back at him. "Come on boy!" He buried his face in his paws. I turned to see the obviously angry creature running towards me. It's jaws came down on my hand and sword. I yelled out in pain through clenched teeth. Before I knew it the last enemy came towards me. I tried to free my hand. If the Lixaid shook its head it'd rip my hand right off. I pulled out my .45 and shoot four times in the beast's chest. It kept its hold and died. I used my legs and pried open it's beak like mouth. As soon as a turned I found myself face to face with the last Lixaid.
