I wrote this for my english class... it applies

He sees everything crumbling around him. Even the slightest problem has the potential to set him over the edge. He is vulnerable.

I blame her. She is the previous girl that he loved. She left him like this for her own selfish reasons. She held his hand long enough for him to get used to her touch. That is, until she found another and left only a vacant space where their fingers used to interlock.

He hides behind this mask of hilarity. He tries to cover up the hole that she has created. The only problem is this cover is thin film. It is easily broken down by the people that he holds dear.

He is vulnerable. I can see it in his eyes. I sensed the fear long ago when he was with another girl. Now she is gone from him. His state is worse than before.

When we get close to someone, we hand them our heart. We give to them our deepest thoughts, our fragile emotions, and our trust. In the hands of our beloved, all these things can be shattered at any moment. We must be careful of who we hold close to our hearts. For if we blindly hand this capability away, we put ourselves at risk for heartbreak.

I was wrong to say that all of this was the girl's fault. It was also his choice to let her in. It was his choice to try to fill her vacancy with others.

He hasn't chosen wisely. He suffers not one, not two, but three holes from people that he trusted.

He and I are similar. This makes me wonder if I too have chosen wrong.

I too, have allowed someone to hold my heart.

I too, have chosen to become vulnerable.
