"Hayley!"someone shouted into my ear. I groaned, unamused by the fact that someone dared waking me from my slumber. I felt that person's weight on me, trying to crush me with their body. It was Joshua, my little brother.

I groaned again, irritated by him.
"Get the F up from my bed you donkeybutt." He laughed at me and this made my mood worse. I turned to him and blew my breath on his face.
"Jeez Hay, it smells like if you ate farts," he said in disgust. He finally left me alone. I stared at my ceiling, mentally preparing my self for the day i had been dreading.

It's only senior year little freak, then you will be able to leave this place, live the life you want, surround yourself with people you want but for now just bear with it.

I took a quick a shower and put on a black legging and a grey, oversized sweater. I went downstairs to the kitchen, bumping with dad on the stairs
"Hurry up Hayley! You'll be late," he said while adjusting his tie.
"Yes dad," I murmured back. I toasted some bread and prepared myself a cup of tea. I liked tea, it usually calm my nerves, helping in making my mood better. I watched mother rushing around, preparing our lunch bag. You see she is a firm believer in eating at home and eating healthy. She had prepared some stir fry tofu which to my view did not look that healthy.

"Hurry up Hay! Stop daydreaming," she spared me a glance and suddenly stopped in her tracks. I arched my eyebrow at her, giving her a questioning look.
"Young lady! I hope you already showered," she screeched. I nooded lazily while rolling my eyes.
"But while are you still your PJs?"she questioned.

I left her, running upstairs to grab my backpack. I took my car keys and my lunch from the table at the front door. I started the car and waited for Joshua. He was playing with our dog, Crowley. I know quite an interesting name, I had a period where I was a huge fan of the supernatural serial. I had posters covering my walls, multiple flannel shirts and leather jackets and had made dad buy a miniature toy car Chevy impala.

I entered the hallway with my earphones on and texting my best friend, Alexis. I was asking her to meet me behind the cafeteria, at our secret hideout. I made my way to to an old empty dumpster. I sat next to it with music blaring through my headphones. I was waiting for the bell that announced the start of the day when I heard a group of people walking. They walked past me as a car was parked just in front of my hiding place. They were some of the boys in the school, mostly the crowd you should not hang out with. I was a bit afraid of them, they were not the most kindest people you will find and I preferred that they did not find me. They were walking away when my phone vibrated, an alert that I had a new message.

Damn the luck I have.
I sat there silently, not even breathing. I unlocked my phone to see that it was a message from Alexis, telling me she will meet me at lunch. I replied back with a simple 'ok' and then just waited for the day to start.

I was running to the hall as our 'dear' Rector had announced an impromptu assembly for welcoming all his students for a new school year. I was already late as I had dozed off and was awaken by a latecomer parking his car next to the dumpster. I arrived to the hall breathing hard, my backpack nearly falling off my arm. The hall was crowded with all the students packed in it. All the seats were already taken and I was left standing with some teachers and students.

The Rector was already on stage. He was a jolly old man with his bald head, easy smile and his big belly. He looked quite handsome in his black suits and red tie. He tapped the micro a few times and all students went quiet.
"Welcome students to another year at Clarisse Highschool for..."and i zoned out.

My eyes strayed to the huge number of people in this room. Our assembly hall was nearly the size of a gymnasium and yet still could not accomodate all the students. Clarisse Highschool was in fact a semi private Highschool. Moreover the students were divided into two two category as per the administration: the Very Capable or Intelligent and the Normal.

The school had a very high student population as it accepted many students and hence it was common not even knowing people who were in the same grade as yours even after so many years. This system of segregation applied by the school also made it difficult for making friends with others. Being a semi private school also meant that we had a wider variety of subject choice such as political science, commerce, hindi and so on. However between students this whole segregation policy by the school was a different affair.

It was not the stereotypical nerds who were the Very Capable, you could find jocks, geeks, fangirls, artists and finally Queen B*tches. They were the worst as they were not only gifted with a high IQ but also with good looks. This is how I knew the unfairness of the universe.

I zapped out of my dreams when I heard the applause. I also clapped my hand together and silently waited so as to get out of the hall. I was pushed around at the door as some jock in the Baseball team thought be had some special privileges. I let it go as I did not want to start the day with a sour mood. I walked down the hallway to my side of the school. And if you were wondering in what 'group' I was then am in the Very Capable one. But, i was nothing special, I was a random freak among those people.
