The sound of the sexy masculine voice, sent apprehension trickling down her spine. Paige whirled around to face Blake. He was stood in the middle of the room, his stance arrogant and intimidating.

"Looking for something? Your job maybe?" Sarcasm dripped from his every word.

"I'm looking for my locket, if you must know." She said grittily. The sight of him made her pulse race. He was tall and leanly muscular. His features were all sharp angles with an aristocratic nose and that mouth, sculptured and so sensual. Paige had noticed on a few occasions when she'd met with him, his thick dark hair, stylishly cut, had a habit of roguishly falling over his forehead. Forcing herself to look away, she continued her search. "I think I dropped it in my office..."

"Your office?" He questioned, raising a dark mocking eyebrow.

"I mean in here." She amended, irritated by the rush of heat which washed over her.

His handsome face was an unreadable mask. "Is it valuable?"

Paige swallowed, before meeting his gaze. More than he could ever imagine. "Priceless." She muttered. The sensuous way his eyes slid over her caused her voice to take on an unfamiliar huskiness.

"I see." He murmured. "In that case, I'll help you look for it."

It took all her strength to stop her mouth from gaping open. "Why are you being so nice to me all of a sudden?" She asked warily.

"As I recall, you were the one being rude to me." He reminded dryly, his grey gaze carrying out a close inspection of the room.

"You're not exactly an easy man to work for." She insisted stubbornly as she watched him stride over to her desk and bend down to pick something up from near one of the table legs.

Straightening up, he held out his hand. "Is this what you're looking for?"

Paige's gaze dropped to his large hand. "Yes!" She cried and rushed over to get it but his long tapered fingers closed around the delicate piece of jewellery.

"Not so fast." His eyes settled on her mouth briefly before slowly moving upwards to meet with her annoyed glare.

"It's mine..."

"I'm going to hold onto it for the time being."

Her smooth brow creased in a frown. "Why?" She demanded, fighting to disguise the disturbing way his nearness was affecting her.

"We need to talk. Iron a few things out." He drawled lazily.

Paige jutted out her chin defiantly. "I have nothing to say to you, besides I've already told you what you can do with your job..."

"Sit down Miss Chadwick." He commanded.

Paige gave him a lethal glare. "Give me back my locket."

"After we've had a little talk."

"There is nothing I want to say to you!"

Blake fixed assessing grey eyes on her. "I have a proposition for you."

"Why don't you understand, I'm not interested in anything  you have to say." She said her blue eyes flashing daggers at him.

"I don't take kindly to being disobeyed." His tone was chilling. "I can and will make your life very difficult Miss Chadwick so it would be in your best interest to hear me out." He warned.

Paige gave him a look of pure contempt. "You're a loathsome bully!" She hissed. "Make it fast, I have things to do."

"I need you." The undertone of his words made her stagger slightly. "In a professional sense you understand." He clarified.
