"The French Riviera!" She parroted his words.
"That's right."
"You never mentioned anything about going there, when we were in London! I assumed we'd be staying in New York..."
"Your specifies clearly that you have to do carry out your job requirements." He cut in harshly.
"That doesn't mean I have to go trotting off around the globe with you! I have family obligations you know!" She flung at him.
"His gaze narrowed on her. "Family obligations?"
"Yes! I have an aunt who..." She paused.
"Who, what?" He probed.
"Who needs looking after and I left her with my sister..."
"Georgia, isn't it?"
"Yes, Georgia." She repeated slightly taken aback by the fact that he'd remembered her name. How come he'd remembered her name, had she made an impression on him? Paige felt disgusted with herself for feeling a stab of jealousy. "My aunt's very frail and I don't think Georgia will be able to cope on her own for much longer, besides it would be so totally unfair of me to go off and leave them like that."
Paige had kept her word and had phoned them every night. During the calls, Georgia never mentioned anything about Blake and herself hitting the headlines, but then again Georgia never bothered with reading or watching news items of any sort, which was a relief because it saved her from answering awkward questions.
"Haven't you considered getting help for your aunt?"
"No!" She said, her sharp outburst made his gaze narrow.
"Why not?"
"My personal matters are none of your concern. If we've done in New York, I'm flying back to London. The French Riviera is out of the question for me." She told him stubbornly.
He looked at her for a long moment before shrugging his broad shoulders. "Fine. We'll fly back to London."
"Really?" She asked looking at him suspiciously, wondering why he had become so acquiescing.
"Really. Now go and pack." He said and strode out.
"Paige." She stirred when she felt herself being roused from sleep.
Her eyes fluttered open. "What is it?" She asked sitting bolt upright, fear crawling over her as she tried to blink the tiredness out of her eyes.
"Sorry I had to wake you, we've landed." Blake explained.
"Oh." She murmured. The lack of sleep during the past couple of nights had caught up with her and the gentle humming of Blake's private jet must have lulled her into a light slumber. She lifted up the shade and glanced out. An icy cold shiver ran down her spine. "This... this isn't London!" She gasped letting go of the shade and glaring at Blake who was sat facing her.
"I know." He stated coolly.
"You lied to me! You said we'd be flying back to London." She accused furiously.
"I did say we'd be flying back to London, I just didn't say when. We've taken a little detour that's all." He said casually.
"I can't believe you've done this! You do realise this is classed as kidnapping." She seethed, her eyes flashing daggers at him.
"Hardly."
How could he have done this! "I could report you to the authorities!" Paige threatened icily.
"And tell them what? That I'm treating you to a holiday on the French Riviera?" He mocked.
"I don't need a holiday and I certainly don't need you to treat me to anything! What I do need is to go home! I can't believe you've done something so underhand, especially when I told you about my aunt!"
