“Relax would you?” I laughed kissing his pouting lips.
“I have to make a good impression.” He insisted and I rolled my eyes at his juvenile behaviour. I grabbed the purple roses he presented me with and waltzed to replace the wilting ones in the glass vase.
“They’ll love you babe. Just be as charming as when we met.” I teased arranging them before turning around to smirk at him.
This time he rolled his eyes as he walked past me and into my small flat. “When’re you moving out of here?” He asked and I shrugged.
“I don’t know yet. It’s kind of far from the university and I don’t have a car.” I sighed. I had, of course, decided to go back to school and quit both of my jobs. As much as I loved teaching dance, one night a week wasn’t enough and I was glad to be able to quit the receptionist gig.
“I have a present.” He said distracting me and I turned to him with a wide grin.
I loved presents. The purple roses were a welcome gift that I looked forward to getting but never continuously thought I would get. “For me?” I asked bouncing over to him and wrapping my arms around his thick jacket waist.
“Of course.” He said digging into his back pocket.
I rocked us side to side as I waited for him to show me it. I was giddy. Harry had bought meals and such for me but never had he been so affectionate. “What is it?” I asked still rocking us.
“Would you have some patience?” He laughed and halted us so he could find it.
He cupped his palms and I took a step back to look at his hands. The sinewy veins that pulled under his skin made me throb more than what was appropriate. He lifted his top hand to reveal a silver key. It was ordinarily silver but it had an engraved red heart. “It’s a key… to my flat…” he said gauging my reaction.
“And it’s for me?” I asked picking it up by the large head.
“If you’d like it yeah. I just thought since you’re over there all the time and I just want you to be able to come over whenever you want.” He said shyly. I wrapped the key in my hand and threw my arms around him.
“You are so sweet!” I said hugging him tightly. I was over emotional. I wanted to cry I was so ecstatic that Harry trusted me enough to own something as important as a house key. I fumbled for my keys and immediately attached it to one of the lonesome rungs. “Thank you Harry.” I said turning back to kiss his cheek. He hadn’t shaved since yesterday. “I love you.” I giggled like a school girl.
“I love you more.” He said bashfully before grabbing my elbow. “Now let’s go, don’t want to be late.”
-
We were late.
And Harry was a wreck over it. “Fuck, they’re going to hate me. Fuck, FUCK.” He swore under his breath as he led me to the restaurant doors.
“Baby, calm down.” I laughed holding to his bicep and running soothing circles on it. He nodded his head unconvinced.
“Yeah, sorry, okay.” He mumbled and I knew he was putting too much pressure on himself.
“Hey, hey, Harry,” I said trying to get his attention after he held the door for me. “Calm down okay? Seriously my parent’s just wanted to meet you.”
“Okay. Sorry.” He said more sure of himself and I smiled at him. He gave me a shy smile and leaned down to kiss my forehead. “What would I do without you?” He muttered holding my hand for me.
I saw my parent’s across the room and the hostess led us there. “Calm.” I told Harry and felt his grip tighten on my waist. He held me into him so we were practically side by side between the cramped chairs. We reached my parents and they stood up.
