The walking was awkward, and silent. You almost couldn't tell they were breathing. He looked at her, taking notes silently in his head. She wore a dress that wasn't very short, but not very long either, around knee length. He was thinking as he observed her, lost in thought.
"Well... You know my name. What's yours?"
He flinched at her sudden words. Her voice surprisingly wasn't very high pitched, more of a medium pitch. Feminine, and soft to his ears.
"Why d'you wanna know?"
His voice stood solid, icey even, but she ignored the ice. She looked at him, not like before where she glanced at him from the corner of her eye. She fully looked at him, taking notes mentally.
"Because I want to, besides, I should at least introduce myself. It would be rude not to."
He sighed and looked at her, examining her eyes, and for a moment she was certain he was looking for any trace of fear that he could feed off of. But he wasn't, he was looking for a reason for her to be here. Or an emotion. Or a past maybe? Anything to tell him about her without her realizing.
"Leiko.... My name is Leiko."
He looked away from her eyes, soon after finding a bit of faith in them. Hope. I have none left, and I have no reason to search for it. He thought these words, and she smiled as his name came to her knowledge.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Mai as you may know."
She put out her hand and he eyed it, waving it off. She sighed and looked around.
"Aren't you supposed to be showing me around?"
He looked a bit annoyed and pulled up a cigarette, lighting it up and putting it to his lips before it disappeared. He looked up and she stared into his eyes. Fatigue. Pain. Hopelessness. Loss.
She named off what she saw in her head, the lass word slipping into the cool spring air.
"What's your problem? I'm going to show you around just stop taking my cigarettes, will ya?"
She shook her head. He sighed, knowing if he grabbed it he could easily be accused of touching her. So he showed her around. They walked around, and talked, and only she could see a bit of the ice melting in his eyes. They got to the park, the last place the had to go. They walked around at the park and sat down. It was getting dark but you could still see easily. They talked, and as he thought of all that had happened that day, he did something he hasn't done in a long long time. This caught her attention. It caught everyone in the areas attention, for they knew of this boy who had the stone heart. He did something he didn't even realize he did. He smiled. And as he looked at her, as he watched the gentle blush along her cheeks, he thought to himself. Right now.... Its like I can actually see the wings of an angel on her back.
