Chapter 2: Takes Time

~A Week Later~

"Your daughter has what we call acute lymphocytic leukaemia, ALL is what we call it, it's the kind when it happens throughout days and weeks" the doctor says speaking with us outside of her hospital room

"Is it curable?" I ask and he sighs

"Thankfully yes, she has to have treatments I suggest chemo, that helps a lot" he says and I sigh in relief

"Now the symptoms that she'll have will be weakness, tiredness, looking washed out, regular infections and high temperature, bleeding easily, bleeding from gums and nose, low red blood cells causing the tiredness and breathlessness, bruising easily with no obvious cause, pain in bones and joints, weight loss, swollen lymph glands and abdominal discomfort due to enlarged spleen" he finishes

"That's a lot of symptoms" Peeta says

"Now, I have to warn you, she might not live up to twenty" he says and I hug Abigail to my chest tightly

"I'm sorry but if she takes chemo she will survive till then, it'll be on and off" he says and I sigh nodding

"When will we be able to take her home?" I ask

"Well if you two don't mind we would like to observe her for a few weeks" he says and I nod

"I'll take the kids home if you want?" Peeta asks and I nod

"They can stay with Prim" I say and he nods, he leaves with Xander and Abbigail and I enter Ems hospital room, she doesn't need her oxygen mask, she has cords in her sides that help her

"I'm going to die aren't I" she says and I walk over to her grabbing her hand

"We'll have to see what will happen" I say and she looks at me

"Mama, just tell me" she says and I sigh

"The doctor said that you MIGHT not live up to twenty" I say and she sighs and nods

"Okay, where's papa?" She asks

"Taken the kids home, he should be back soon" I say

"Mama?" She asks

"Yeah?" I say

"How did you and papa meet?" She asks

"It started when I left home, go somewhere else, I almost hit your father with my car" I say smiling and she giggles

"I was a human before" I say and she looks at me

"What was it like?" She asks

"Well, it was easier to get sick and not be cured but when you're a wolf you can go to a healer and they'll try" I say and she nods

"My whole life changed when I met your father, I was happy and when I had you and your brother we were complete" I say and she smiles and extends her arms and I hug her

"I love you mama" she says

"Love you too princess" I say and kiss her cheek
