Nothing. There was absolutely nothing! How could someone disappear so fast?, I wondered and placed one strand of hair behind my ear. Did he see me? And yes, I was pretty sure it was a 'he', because the voice I heard was a male voice. A young male voice. It was smooth, but yet so strong, and he hit every note without a single problem. I was kinda jealous...

Okey focus now, Audrey!

With my phone in a tight grip I went into the room and looked around. Still nothing. Whoever had been playing the piano was now gone.

I walked over to the piano and let my fingers slip over the keys. That angelic voice was still stuck in my head. I just couldn't let it go! Where did it come from? Who had been playing the piano?

... I probably didn't want the answer to that question, though.

I turned the lights off and then went to the living room instead. I wouldn't be able to study more anyways since I couldn't stop thinking about what just happened.

"Hey", I said and sat down by my father in the sofa.

"Hey Audrey", he greeted me and put an arm around my shoulders. "You're really talented when it comes to play the piano... Maybe we should buy you your own so you could have it in your room and play whenever you wanted? Would you like that?"

"But-... I'm the only one who uses it?", I asked a little bit confused. Okey, obviously I wasn't the only one using it, someone else were too... But anyways. And what if he would come back and start playing in my room instead? Ugh, I didn't want that to happen... "It's not that necessary, actually. I'm totally fine with playing in the piano room."

"Well okey, if you say so." He shrugged. "I just thought that-... Nah, it doesn't matter. Forget about everything I said."

"Okey." I nodded.

The clock striked twelve, and I decided to go to bed while dad was still awake. I didn't really know why, but I just felt more safe when someone else was around and awake until I had fallen asleep. And my dad was that kind of guy who enjoyed staying up late even though he regretted it in the morning the next day. And I tried to believe that the horrific creatures wouldn't come as often if my dad was here.

Now you may wonder what those creatures look like? Honestly, I don't think you'd like to know, but I'll tell you anyways... They all look different. Some of them looks like ordinary people if you see them from behind, but when they turn around you'll wish that you never even looked at them in the first place. Some of them have red skin and yellow eyes and looks pretty much like the devil itself, while others don't even have any eyes at all. Many of them have stitches in the face and evil smiles on their lips, but some of them just looks really sad. Once, I actually saw someone who didn't even have a face...

They all kind of looks like something taken out from a horror movie, but some of these looks even worse. They have scars in their faces, and their hands consists of long fingers with sharp claws which could rip your heart out in two seconds.

I will never forget the first time I saw one of these creatures. It was three years ago. I was fourteen, and for the first time ever I was home really late, so my parents were already asleep. I had been at the cinema with Jaclyn and another girl I didn't remember the name of. I didn't really know her, she was just a friend of Jaclyn. And I didn't know my friend Irini back then either. Anyways, back to the topic.

My parents were asleep, so I snuck into my room so they wouldn't wake up. My mother needed to rest, because my little sister was newly born and she used to keep my parents up all night. But not this time.

I started to undress myself, but then I saw something... Someone, or no-... Something was sitting in the darkest corner of my room. At first, I couldn't believe my eyes, but after staring at the creatures for a few minutes it was still there.

"Hello?", I asked a bit frightened.

It didn't answer me. It just sat there, staring into the wall.

"...Excuse me?" I didn't have the courage to walk up to it, so I just stood there. Who was this creature and how did it get in here?

It still wouldn't answer, but now I could hear that he or she was sobbing.

"Are you okey?", I asked. It muttered something back, but I couldn't hear it because he was speaking too quiet.

"Sorry? I don't think I heard what you were saying..."

It muttered something again, but he or she was still sobbing so I decided to walk up to it and put a hand on his shoulder. When I did so, he stopped sobbing. He just sat there, all quiet, but then he turned his head...

And I screamed.

I had never seen such a horrific monster in my entire life, or yeah, maybe in a horror movie, but not in real life!? His eyes were just black holes in his face, and he smiled at me with gritted teeth. His hands looked just like the ones I told you about before, and he reached out for me, but I backed off.

The lamps in the hall were lit, and my parents ran into my room.

"Audrey, are you okey?", my mom asked anxiously when she found me sitting on the floor, shaking and crying.

"Audrey, what the hell happened?", my dad said. He was probably angry at me for waking him up for nothing. Because there was nothing. The creature, which I bet was trying to kill me, had left.

"There was s-someone in my r-room...", I sobbed.

"Who? There's no one here, except for us? Then where did he go? Was it a burglar?" He crouched down in front of me. "Shall I call the police, Christel?"

My mom shrugged and then turned to me. "What did he look like, Audrey?"

I tried to describe him, but when I finished my dad was giving me a tired look. "So you woke me up, screaming, because of a nightmare?"

"It wasn't a nightmare! I hadn't even gone to bed yet!"

"Audrey, your father's right. You just had a nightmare. Monsters like that doesn't exist." She patted my back.

"But it wasn't a dream...", I said, now in disbelief.

"Then, I guess it was just a bit of your wild and crazy fantasy, darling", my dad said.

"Go back to sleep now. Goodnight." My mom kissed my cheek, and then both of them left the room. I was still shaking, because I knew that it wasn't just a dream. I almost died, and my parents didn't even care!

Anyhow, I went to bed. And I was lucky, because that horrific creature didn't come back that night...
