"Alright J.A.R.V.I.S.," Gracie, now Carter, muttered a couple hours later. She had been putting off getting ready for a while and had finally decided to get it over with. "Let's find an outfit."
Carter opened the closet door and found that one section was more lit then the others. "These," J.A.R.V.I.S. explained, "are what I believe to be appropriate attire for tonight's occasion."
"Impressive," Carter stated, looking at some of the dresses. "This place isn't 'black tie' fancy, is it?"
"Not quite, thought it is still a formal setting."
"I think i can work with that," Carter continued as she looked through all the different dress options. She was starting to think Pepper had an odd style, considering one of her options was a very unattractive olive-green pants-suit. After a lot of browsing and questioning. Carter had found the perfect dress, and all the right accessories. A white dress with splatters of colors along the bottom hem, a pink, speech bubble zippered clutch, a simple, triangle necklace, pearl studs, and her plain white converse that she had brought from Cali. After applying simple make-up, Carter debated what to do with her hair. She had never actually done her make-up on her own before, and though it wasn't to bad, she didn't to mess up on anything else. With a sigh, Carter tilted her head towards the ceiling .
"J.A.R.V.I.S.?"
"Yes miss?"
"Can you show me to Pepper's room?"
"Right this way, miss," he replied as Carters bedroom door opened. At the end of the hall, the elevator was waiting. After going down a couple of floors, the doors opened to an open living room, not unlike the one on the main floor. Down a hall to the left, the lights were blinking, and Carter followed them. At the end of the hall, she could make out Tony and Peppers voices.
"Calm down, Pep," Tony's voice said from down the hall. "I doubt she's gonna care how you look."
"It's our first time in public with her," came Pepper's reply. "We need to make a good first impression."
As she arrived at the door, Carter cleared her throat, stopping Tony's reply.
"You look, different," was all that Tony could manage to say. Carter rolled her eyes and turned to Pepper.
"Any chance you can help me with my hair?" Carter held up the curling iron she had found. "I'm not really used to this kind of stuff."
Pepper looked surprised at first, but nodded. She guided Carter to her private bathroom and Carter was, again, amazed. It seemed that Tony just couldn't help from going over the top. Pepper pushed Carter into the chair and plugged in the curler.
"So," Pepper started playing with Carters hair from behind. "What kind of style did you have in mind?"
Carter shrugged her shoulders. "Fancy isn't really my thing; I was kinda hoping you'd have something in mind," she trailed off. Pepper took her hands out of Carters hair and walked around to face her. She looked at Carters face for a second before responding.
"I can work with this."
