As Happy drove the girls through the streets of NYC, Gracie debated jumping out of the car. She didn't have a very positive attitude about, well, anything. She was kinda excited to meet Tony, but she didn't have high hopes for how accepting or "fatherly" he was going to be.
"At least New York seems cool," Gracie thought to herself.
As they pulled up to Stark Tower, Gracie laughed. This is where she was going to live for the next 2 months? "Great," she muttered under her breath. Gracie heard Pepper chuckle.
"This isn't the only house Tony owns," she explains. "There's one in over in Malibu and another in Hawaii. Really, they're all over." Gracie gaped. She'd always wanted to travel.
As they actually walked into the building, the secretary nodded at Pepper, who smiled. Happy just kept showing off his I.D. The lobby was quite big, with lots of expensive looking paintings and fancy furniture. It was obviously put together by Pepper. Gracie was stuck in a state of permanent shock as they headed towards the elevator. How many floors were there? She counted the buttons as they went up, but only got the above ground floors before the doors opened and Happy and Pepper were stepping out. She hurried to catch up.
"150..." Gracie muttered.
"What?" Happy questioned.
"150 floors."
"183 if you count the basement floors." He chuckled at her face.
They ended up on a living room type floor. It had all the basic furniture, though probably more expensive then normal furniture. There were certain accent marks here and there, obviously Peppers doing again. There was a kitchen like area off to the side, but Gracie was pretty sure it was only used for alcohol judging by all the liquor behind the counter.
"Hello Mrs. Potts, Mr. Happy, and Miss Stark"
Elizabeth's eyes widened. "What...?"
"My apologies, my name is J.A.R.V.I.S., Mr. Starks personal A.I. Did I not get your name right?"
"Well, kind of I guess but-" Gracie was cut off.
"In my systems, I have you under 'Elizabeth Carter Stark.' Is this not correct?"
Gracie glared in Pepper's direction. "We haven't got there J.A.R.V.I.S.," is all she said.
"Finally!"
Gracie didn't recognize the voice. She turned to see Tony coming out of a hallway she didn't notice originally. But he wasn't talking to her. He walked straight to Pepper and kissed her. Elizabeth had to keep herself from gagging. Thankfully, Happy cleared his throat before they could go on for too long. "There are technically children here, you know."
"I'm 16," Gracie muttered.
"Still a kid," Tony said in a mock tone.
"Really?" Gracie sassed back. " The first time we've ever met and you mock me instead of saying, i don't know, hi?"
"Well," Tony remarks. "She's definitely got my sass." Gracie rolls her eyes. "You know," Tony continues. "You'd think you'd be happy to meet me."
She crossed her arms. "Well I'm to thrilled."
Tony turned back to Pepper. "Yep, she's mine."
--------------------------
"And this is your room," Pepper announced. After showing Gracie most of the other floors, this was the last stop. Gracie had been quite surprised by the floor with the pool. Tony even had a floor just for the parties he held.As Gracie stepped into her new room, she was in shock. Then again, she'd been in shock for the past hour.
Her bed, which was to the left of the door, had a black frame with an off-white bed sheet covered in music notes. Her guitar and a piano stood to the far right corner. To the right of the door was a wall made of book shelves, covered in to many books for Gracie to count. The wall jut out about 7 feet down to make her bathroom, which had a seperate tub and shower plus a large vanity. The far wall in her bed room was made of glass, giving a fantastic view of the city. On closer inspection, Gracie noticed doors leading out on to a small balcony. To the left of her bed was a massive walk in closet, fully stocked with clothes more expensive then anything she had ever owned. Her old clothes weren't even in there yet. "It's perfect," Gracie breathed out.
Pepper smiled. "I thought you'd like it." Gracie took notice in the fact the she didn't say "we." "Next week," she continued, "Tony will be brining in a couple of friends to tutor you to finish up your Junior year. You can start Senior year next year at an actual high school."
Gracie turned to her. "That won't be necessary, I've almost finished my senior year."
Pepper gave her another smile, this one more fake. "Tony believes that putting you back in your Junior year would be good for you." With that, Pepper left the room, not another word to be put towards the conversation. Gracie groaned. Two months just turned into two years.
