{Briar's POV}
"Okay, I'm this far from punching Mr. Darnel square in his sarcastic mouth." I complain as I climb into Chase's car after school."Oh he's not that bad. True he can get pretty annoying, and mocking, and frustrating at times, he's still a cool guy," Chase tried. I looked over from the passenger side and just stared at him with one of my eyebrows risen.
"Okay, yeah he is pretty bad." He confessed.
"Told you," I pulled out my phone as I stuck my tongue out at Chase.
"If I wasn't driving, that wouldn't have been tolerated." He smirked. It's been two weeks since Evie and I had moved into the Umbra pack and they've been treating us very well, better than I deserve really. The boys come and visit once a week and bring little things that Evie and I forgot.
Once we pull into the pack, I walk inside the pack house, my fingers interlaced with Chase's. I threw my bag on our bed and laid, face first, on the sheets waiting for Chase to finish any last minute Beta duties.
"Hey babe?" tilting my head so that now I'm laying on cheek, I answer.
"Yeah?"
"There's a package in here for you, it's from your dad. It says on the note that it's the things you forgot to grab before you left a few weeks ago." Groaning, I roll over and crawl off the bed. Standing up I walk into the office and lay my head on his shoulder.
I take the scissors off the desk and cut the tape off the seals. I pop open the box and see a bunch of old pictures and letters inside along with my old comic books and band posters I didn't even know I still had.
Chase picked up a few of the baby pictures of Evie, Jayden, Cooper and I and glanced through them. He chuckled as he looked at each one, while I was thinking as I looked at a few envelopes with the name Margaret Soyer on the return address and my father's name on the middle of the envelope. I picked up the envelopes and looked through them, all but one didn't have a letter inside. the one that did, I pulled it out and showed it to Chase.
"what's this?" He asked taking the paper.
"I don't know but it's addressed to my father." Shrugging, he begins to read.
Dear David Stone and the family,
I'm pretty sure you don't remember me or my Granddaughter, Frost, your other long lost relative.
I received notice from Frost's Aunt that your youngest daughter, Briar, is the same age as Frost. My idea is that one day we can get them together so they can meet each other.
I know we live on opposite sides of the country but it can be arranged if you feel like it would be a great idea.
I am now back to the human world for good since Frost's parents went missing.
I just want to remind you that Frost is half-fox and half-human. She can force her ears and tails to show, she actually prefers to do that more, but she can look human if needed.
If you don't remember how we are related, I have attached a family tree to the back of this letter.
Contact me when you get this letter.Sincerely,
Margaret Soyer
October 2004"Who's Margaret Soyer?" He asked.
"i don't know, I don't know who this 'Frost' girl either." I responded as I found the Family tree that was folded up in the same envelope. we looked over it a few times and back up to the top.
"I was only seven when this letter was sent and I never met any relatives with the last name Soyer. I would remember."
"Maybe your dad didn't like the idea of it." Chase suggested.
