"They're coming. Now." Fiyero paced the room again and again and again. "What do we do?" asked Elphaba. "I don't know," Fiyero replied, honestly. "We have to think of something, though, and fast." Elphaba thought so much it hurt. Then, she realized she'd set fire to her hands. Fiyero couldn't help but laugh. "Wow, Elphie I didn't know this was freaking you out that much." "It's not funny!" Elphaba chastised. "I need to know how to control my powers before I hurt someone." Fiyero's face turned dark. "They know melting you doesn't work now. Who knows what they'll try to do to you if you mess up." Elphaba gulped.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. "Elphie, open up!" Glinda shouted, muffled by the door. Elphaba practically knocked over Fiyero as she raced to the door, throwing it open, and crushing Glinda in a giant hug. "Good to see you, too," Glinda whispered. When Elphaba finally let go of her, Glinda slammed the door behind her. "I have an idea." Within seconds, they were on the cold stone balcony of the castle with Fiyero right behind them. "What's going on?" he asked anxiously. "Glinda's brilliant!" Elphaba said. "Well, I'm pretty great," Glinda responded, blushing. Elphaba shoved her playfully and continued. "Anyway, she suggested we hear what the munchkins have to say from the balcony where they can't reach us. I mean, they already know we're here, so there's no use hiding from them. And, if they can't reach us immediately, we can just take off on the broom and hide out in the Wizard's old place. Glinda has access to his lair in the Emerald City and we could lock ourselves in there and find some protection spells. We'd beat them on the broom easily if they're just walking."

Fiyero took a minute to consider the plan. "Alright, Glinda's a genius," he admitted. Glinda's face light up, but only for a split second before a worried expression took over. "Here they come," she murmured under her breath, taking Elphaba's hand. Fiyero took Elphaba's other hand and the three stood together, united as one, awaiting the approaching crowd, nervous. Elphaba began to shake, and Glinda sidestepped so Fiyero could pull her close, kissing her green forehead. She leaned into his shoulder, watching with one eye.

Once the group of terrified munchkins approached, Boq cleared his throat. "Um, we came to thank you," he began, his voice echoing the nervousness they all felt, but failing to express the tension. "And welcome you back to Oz, if you'll stay." He gulped. Elphaba looked confused as Fiyero voiced the question she was thinking. "You want us to stay?" Boq nodded. "Oz is as much your home as it is ours. We'd be glad to have you now that we know what really happened. Most of us trust you. In fact, Elphaba, you've got a fan who would love to meet you. That is, if you'd allow it." Elphaba hesitated. "Ok... I'll send Glinda down in her bubble."

Elphaba was surprised to see a young munchkin boy walk bravely towards Glinda and take her hand. When he reached the balcony, he leaped out enthusiastically and walked toward her confidently. He held out his hand. "Hi, I'm Jeremiah. I'm so glad to finally meet you." Elphaba laughed, taking his hand. "Nice to meet you, Jeremiah. I'm Elphaba. I hope we can become good friends." "Me, too," Jeremiah said. "This castle is amazing! Can I come over sometime?" he asked hopefully. "Sure," Elphaba said smiling. Fiyero coughed behind her. "Oh!" Elphaba added. "I almost forgot. This is Fiyero, my boyfriend." Jeremiah grinned. "Hi, Fiyero! I'm a big fan of you and Elphaba! Would you like to play catch with me and my dad sometime?" "Sure," Fiyero chuckled. "I'd love to."

Jeremiah squeezed himself between Elphaba and Fiyero, taking their hands and raising them above his head. His parents clapped enthusiastically, soon joined by the other munchkins. Soon, everyone was laughing and talking and lining up for Glinda to take them to meet Elphaba and Fiyero. Jeremiah stayed with them the whole time. Finally, Fiyero whispered something in Jeremiah's ear. Jeremiah grinned and asked Glinda to take him back down. Once the bubble landed on the ground, Fiyero cleared his throat and called, "Excuse me! Could I have everyone's attention?" Everyone looked up. "I have a very important question to ask." He turned to Elphaba and then dropped to one knee.

"Elphaba Thropp, ever since that day with the lion cub, I knew I loved you. Would you do me the honor of spending the rest of your life loving me, because I know that no matter what you say, I'll spend the rest of mine loving you. Will you marry me?" He pulled out a ring with a sparkling emerald stone in the center, surrounded by black diamonds. Elphaba stood speechless for a few minutes, but finally managed to choke out a feeble, "yes." The crowd below them erupted into cheers that would not die down for several minutes while the happy couple embraced followed by several choruses of "ews" from the children in the crowd. Jeremiah shoved his friend beside him, chastising him.

Glinda popped up in her bubble and gave Elphaba a huge hug squealing, "Congratulations!" When she pulled away, she grabbed Elphaba's forearm and said in an excited voice, "You know what this calls for?" Oh boy, Elphaba thought. "A slumber party!" Glinda screamed at the top of her lungs. "Glinda," Elphaba tried to rationalize. "We're not in High School anymore." "I know, silly," Glinda told her. "But we missed out in High School because you ran away to do your whole 'Wicked Witch' thing." Elphaba sighed. "Alright. What about Fiyero? What will he do?" "He'll just stay out of our way," Glinda dismissed. "He can do whatever." "Thanks," Fiyero said. "I see how much you care about me, Glinda." Glinda giggled.

"Can I at least talk to Fiyero for a minute?" Elphaba asked frustrated. "Sure, Elphie. You've got sixty seconds to say goodbye." Elphaba rolled her eyes and grabbed Fiyero's arm, dragging him inside. From outside, they could hear Glinda sending the munchkins home. "Fiyero, we're going to have to plan this wedding. This is going to be hard. Are you sure you're brain can handle it?" she teased. Fiyero chuckled and wrapped Elphaba in his arms. "I'm yours forever, Elphie. I'll do whatever you want." They kissed. "See you at midnight," Elphaba whispered in his ear as Glinda dragged her toward one of the castle's immaculate bedrooms. Fiyero grinned.
