The hospital was a tall building, 10 stories at least. It was an all white building with windows everywhere. It was the brightest place I had ever been in. It was almost blinding. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I made an attempt to step off of my bed and stretch my legs for a bit, but once I got half a leg out of my covers, a nurse walked in the rooom and rushed me back to my bed.
"You don't have enough strength to be walking yet." The nurse said in a high-pitched perky voice.
"Well can't you just fix me and be done already!" I asked, a little aggitated.
"No, you see, magic can't cure these kind of injuries. What am I saying! Magic can't cure inguries at all! You'll just have to wait like everyone else in this hospital, so get comfortable." She answered.
I was annoyed that I would have to wait for who knows how long to get out of here. I didn't want to waste anytime with some arsenal on the loose! I had to stop him. Oh who am I kidding? Me and what army? I was doomed. Our whole Coven was doomed. May aswell do as the nurse says and get comfy while I have the chance.
"Oh and you have a visitor." The nurse adds as she leaves the room.
A visitor? Who? Dad? Archer? Nope, not them. It was my mystery guy, Griffin? Was that his name? I couldn't quite remember. I think I blacked out for a few minutes after I got here. Nevertheless, Griffin walked in with a smile on his face and a bouquet of flowers in his hand. Were they for me?
"Hey Vesta!" Griffin shouts with antisipation. I let out a pathetic "hey" as he sits down on the chair next to my bed.
"So, I heard that you have a broken leg and several bruises on your ribs. Ouch, must hurt alot."
It wasn't until then I noticed a sharp pain in my leg all the way up to just above my waist. It did hurt, but I wasn't about to tell him that.
"I brought you some flowers. I thought it might help a bit." Boy was he naive. He actually thinks that a little bouquet of flowers will cure all of my injuries?! But it was still sweet.
"Thanks." I say like I haven't talked in days. My voice was so raspy I barely recognised it.
"No problem, and I was wondering if, when you get out of this freaking hospital, maybe we could grab some lunch or something." He asked me, he was asking me right? Me, on a date? This whole day is messed up. I didn't even know if I was still Vesta Crowlock! It was like my entire life was turned upside down and backwards! The only thing that was the same was the fact that I still had Mystery and Salem to look out for me. Where were they anyways?
"Where's Salem and Mystery?" I asked Griffin.
"In the next rooms down." He answers like he didn't feel like talking about it.
"Are they hurt?"
"Yeah pretty bad actually. Think one of them has a pencil stuck in their side or something. It was a pretty bad accident."
WHAT!?!?!? Salem and Mystery were hurt? Oh shit. I had to go see them! Now.
"It wasn't an accident." I tell Griffin, "Our school was under attack. I don't think anyone even knew what happened. Salem was the only other person I saw after the fireball hit our classroom." I stated.
"Oh. Well doesn't matter the cause of the crime, I just save people from them so I don't get the memo about what happens at the save sites, I just go in and rescue. Sorry"
"It's OK. It's not like it's your fault that some phsycopathic moron decided to attack our school. You just came in and saved us. If anything, you tried your best to stop it from happening. But back to our conversation, WHO HAS A PENCIL IN THEIR SIDE!? Mystery or Salem? Are they OK? Can I go see them?--"
"Woah, slow down there Vesta. You can't or atleast shouldn't be walking for atleast another 4 weeks. Or until your leg and ribs are completely healed."
"But I need to see them! And I'm sure they want to see me just as bad! Salem tried to save me from burning under that ceiling panel and now I can't even say thank you! I don't even know how Mystery is because of all the freaking smoke that was clouding up the class and your saying I won't know for 4 weeks! Come on man! Cut me some slack! Help me out here! Get a wheelchair or something so I can go see them! Holy shit!"
"Vesta, you need to calm down! If your heart rate gets too high you'll. . . Just calm down ok."
"Ok, ok. I'll calm down. But you have to take me to see Mystery and Salem!" We argued like this for what seemed like an eternity. But Griffin finally gave in and snuck me into their rooms to see them.
"Oh my gosh! What happened!" I screamed when I see Mystery. Her hair was full of dried up blood and so was her right arm. She had a gaping gash in her arm and her left leg. She had a sratch just above her eyebrow on her forehead. It was about 3" long.
"Not much, how about you?" Mystery replies trying to hide the hurt that I am well aware she's in. She wiped a tear from her eyes before she gave me a serious answer.
"A desk cracked in half and fell on me, causing the gash in my leg. A pair of scissors flew across the room and got me in the forehead and Mr.Donovies desk fell over and one of his metal fine tip rulers slashed my arm open. So what's up with you?" She asked.
"Well a ceiling panel fell on top of me and broke my leg and bruised several of my ribs. So all in all, we both hit rock bottom" I state.
"I think I hit first," Mystery says with a playful tone, well as playfull a tone she could manage.
As I say goodbye and good luck to Mystery, Griffin hauls me out the door into Salems room. He wasn't as badly damaged as me and Mystery, but still pretty bad. He had the pencil in his side. He also had a scratch on his forehead and one of his eyes was swolen shut.
"Hey," I say as I turn to Griffin, signaling him to leave.
"Hey," Salem replies, his voice hoarse and barely recognisable.
"Salem, I want to thank you for trying to save me yesterday. It really did mean alot to me. I wish our powers weren't so messed up during the attack. But you must feel worse, you don't have any powers until tomorow." I say as I wheel towards his hospital bed.
"It was the least I could do for my best friend. I didn't want to lose you or Mystery, so when I knew I wouldn't be able to get that pannel off of you, and I saw the crimefighters coming, I went to help Mystery. I didn't want anyone to get hurt. Unfortunately most of our class didn't survive." He states as I lean on the side of his bed.
"It must have been horrible for you to watch. I mean I was blocked by the pannel so I couldn't see the. . . the horror. I mean. . . you saw it all. Everything." I was lagitimately shocked at the thought of seeing all of the hurt and death happening. I couldn't even begin to imagine what he saw. And frankly, I didn't want to.
"I don't really want to talk about it." He says.
"OK, so what do you want to talk about?" I ask not wanting to talk about this either.
"I don't want to talk." That's when he leaned in and kissed me.
