*around one month later*
Damon and Stefan were both out, leaving Emily and I alone in the hut. We sat and talked as her children played outside by the lake.
“they are coming for me” she whispered in a monotones tone.
“who Emily” I asked realising she was having a vision.
“the founding families, they know I am a witch” she replied.
“no, Damon, Stefan and I will not allow it” I protested.
“I have a few hours at the most” she breathed as Damon walked in.
“they will take me and burn me at the stake” she snapped out of her trance and told me.
“no. Damon tell her we will not let this happen” I shouted.
“I cannot run, they have people everywhere so I cannot escape. Damon you are a man of your word” she turned her attentions to him.
“certainly Emily” he smiled at her.
“promise me you will protect my children when they come for me. They do not know about them, you must protect them. Send them to Salam, I have family there that will look after them,” she instructed.
“as you wish” Damon walked back out of the hut and gathered the children together.
“take these for all three of you” she handed me three rings. All three of them had a lapis-lazuli stone set onto a silver ring. Two of them had the Salvatore crest on, one with an ‘S’ and one with a ‘D’. The other ring was more feminine and had the Rossi crest on with an ‘R’. I put Damon and Stefan’s in my pocket for safe keeping and mine on my left, middle finger.
“you will now be able to walk in the sun whenever you wear them. I am sorry it has taken me a few weeks to get them to you, the stones had to arrive” she smiled at me.
“thank you for everything Emily. For teaching me about my powers, for these rings but mostly for being my friend” I sobbed as Stefan walked in.
“Stefan, you need to find a new place for you all to live if you are going to stay here a while” Emily instructed him. He nodded already knowing what was happening and left again.
“why do you not hide with us, we can eventually get you out” I offered.
“my time has come” she took my hands in hers.
“Lucinda told me I was to die shortly after your turning, she knew that you would turn, but she did not say you would still be a witch. She has seen an awful lot of your future, but not all of it; there are still many decisions left in your hands, still so many left in other people’s hands” Emily smiled at me.
“she left me with a message; she told me to tell you this when I was about to die...” Emily began.
“what?” I asked trying to control my tears.
“never blame yourself for what the future holds, for what she has seen you can never change not matter what course you take” she muttered.
“can I ask you something about my future?” I questioned.
“you can, I might not know the answer and I most likely cannot answer it even if I did, but you can” Emily smiled at me, taking her upcoming death in her stride.
“what is the future for Damon and I? Luc told me something about us not being meant for each other, then she said well not for the moment” I frowned remembering.
“I cannot answer that, it could change things too greatly. I will only say that I have seen what she was talking about. The moment I looked at you when I stepped out of the carriage, I saw your future, just like Lucinda did as she died” she told me.
