Draco's POV
"Sometimes it is good to rule by fear," I say as I stroll leisurely down the corridors leading from the great hall.
All of the first years are practically skipping off to their new common rooms and are easy to pick out. Let's just say I gave them all a welcome gift from me, myself and I. The occasional hex if they were really giddy but mainly little tricks here and there... Slight little flicks of my wand sending the odd child flying into the next like dominoes. With one I managed to send her books flying only to hit a Hufflepuff boy square on in the face, not so noble of the new Gryffindor girl I did point out.
"Oh Drakey don't you feel you're being a bit hard on them?" Pansy moans from my side.
"Has the summer made you soft Parkinson?" I spit at her, "maybe you are the one that needs rehousing? I'm sure Hufflepuff will have you?" She looks as if she is about to burst into tears but instead fights back raising her hand to slap me but I anticipate her move too quickly and catch her wrist in my hand before she can touch me. "Now now let's not get hasty... I know you want me Pansy but even that is a bit rash for you dearie," I say with a smirk dropping her hand from my own.
"You're despicable!" Pansy says storming away to god knows where.
"Oh no! Despicable me!" I say mimicking her voice as she walks away.
"Welcome back Draco," I hear from behind me as I'm patted on the back.
I turn around to see my old pal, "Zabini!"
"Malfoy!" Blaise replys in chorus.
"Bringing in the new school year with a bang I see?" He comments as I send a firework screeching down the hall and watching everyone dive for cover is quite amusing actually.
"Don't you know it!" I chuckle as in the distance the firework sets of with an almighty bang.
"You coming down to the common room mate?" Naturally in Slytherin the common rooms are down in the dungeons leading up to the great tower of dorms. Nobody seems to realise the Slytherin rules this school, we way out number the other houses stood alone.
"I think I'm going to enjoy this a little longer... Although something tells me Pansy may be in need of a bit of comforting , if you know what I mean." I say with a smirk as I hold my hand out to Blaise.
He takes my hand and shakes it but still looks at me as if confused," I'm not sure what you're insinuating by that Draco.."
"You don't hide it as well as you think let's just leave it at that." I reply to Blaise and with that he heads off.
He has had a crush on Pansy Parkinson since pretty much day one, although he may deny it I can see straight through that boy. Blaise forgets I have known him for years if he so much as bats an eyelid I know what he is thinking, especially when it comes to girls.
I continue walking around until I find myself back near the entrance of the great hall, and who is coming out but little weaselette. Not quite a first year... But it will still be very amusing, if not even more so because of who she is.
I wait in the alcove beside the entrance doors and wait until she and the Patil girls have passed me before I reveal myself from where I stood. I take small steps to keep up with her and give my wand a quick flick towards her sending her hair spiraling into Irish green. I can't help but let out a low snicker which draws attention to myself as both Ginny and the two girls spin around to look at me trying to contain my laughter when one of them catches on to what I am laughing at.
"G... Ginny..." She stutters out.
"What? What is it?!"
"Your hair ... It's ... It's .. " she still cannot get her words out and the other girl is just stood in awe.
"Why Weaselette I thought you loved the Irish green... I mean after I saw you at the Quidditch World Cup with that glorious green hat a few years back I thought you would love it ..." I say with a snicker in my voice.
She reaches over her shoulder and pulls a clump of hair forward into her view. Her scream pierces through the corridor and could clearly be heard within the great hall as everything went silent. "Oops?" I say with a slight shrug of my shoulders.
"You will pay for this Malfoy!" Ginny spits as she storms over to me.
"Ooh I quiver with fear!"
She goes to reply to me but is interrupted when the golden trio appear behind me.
"Bloody hell Ginny your hair!" Ron exclaims walking up to her.
"Yeah no shit Ronald!" She exclaims and I can't help but let out a slight snigger.
"Back off Malfoy." Comes a voice from behind me. Potter. I turn to face him with our faces only inches away.
"What's the matter Potter? Finally got yourself a girlfriend have we?"
"At least some of us could get a girlfriend." I see weaselette blush behind him.
"Oh I could get one... I just have, how should I say exacting standards. Any girl would be lucky to have me..." Almost on queue two Slytherin girls walk past looking at me and begin giggling, "... See."
"Just back off Malfoy," he says shaking his head at me.
"Oh you're no fun. What are you going to do this year? A few years back was the Triwizard tournament, and last year was Dumbledore's precious Army or whatever you called it, but what now? Everybody's golden boy needs to keep up his reputation doesn't he?"
"Not for me Malfoy. I'll be enjoying my year in the shadows..." He says with a slight sigh. He'd usually bite back that's strange.
"Well just make sure you keep out of my way Potter. The shadows are my domain."
