Harry's POV
Ron and Hermione still aren't on speaking terms after their confrontation with the birds after the Quidditch match, although why there aren't I'm not overly sure. I think had it not been for their falling out Hermione would have plucked up the courage to ask him here to Slughorns Christmas party tonight but with everything that's going on its probably best she didn't.
"You know ...a number of girls, particularly Romilda Vane, planned to slip you a love potion, just to get you to invite them," Hermione laughs.
"Well hello to you to Hermione," I say giving her a quick hug, "but you know its hardly like I could have invited who I wanted to," I say scratching my head.
"Have you two spoken yet?" She asks and all I can do I shake my head, "Oh Harry..."
"It's OK Hermione... It's not like anything would ever come of it anyway, were just too different I guess." I need to tell her about the mark but not here, there are to many people about. This is something I need to do in private.
"So who did you invite then?" She asks.
"Well I was going to suggest we come together but after I heard you already had a date I asked Luna," I say nodding to Luna who is stood talking to Neville as he serves drinks.
"Of course! Us two! Why didn't I think of that?!" She says almost in disbelief.
"So who did you invite?!"
"The one person I thought would annoy Ron the most..." She says with a slight grimace.
"Mclaggen." I reply with a sigh. She certainly knows how to pick them.
"Oh god here he comes better run Harry," she says before darting off towards the window where she attempts to hide behind the curtains, only to no avail. From me anyway. I leave it a few moments until Mclaggen has passed me as he looks for her before I walk over and join her behind the curtain.
"Anyone would think we could be getting up to anything behind here you know," I say teasingly receiving a quick slap on the arm as Hermione attempts to stifle her laughter.
"Yes well people don't know what it is I know," she says with a wink before taking a drink from her glass.
"Touche!" I say raising my glass slightly before taking a drink myself. "so why are you trying to hide from Mclaggen anyway?"
She stares at me for a moment before swallowing down the rest of her glass, "he keeps trying to corner me under the mistletoe."
I let out a slight smirk receiving another slap to the shoulder,"OK so maybe I deserved that one."
"It's not funny Harry!" She says seriously.
"Maybe just a little," I say guesturing with my hands.
"Thats not all that's little ..." She says in a hushed tone.
"Hermione Granger!"
"What?!" She says mischievously and I can't help but laugh, "Girls talk you know.."
"Now I'm worried..."
"How did you think I found out about Romilda Vane's plan? Besides, most stuff about you is the usual being the chosen one and all. Draco on the other hand ..."
I feel my hand clench tightly causing me to dig my nails into the palm of my hand. How dare they take about my Draco. "Hey Harry girls talk ... But don't worry, everyone loves him just as much as you." She says with a wink.
"Yeah like that helps," I growl clutching my hands even tighter causing me to crush the glass that is in my hand.
"Whoah Harry! " she gasps and I realise how abruptly I growled at her, the smashing of the glass probably didn't help either mind.
