Chapter 1: Did This Have to Happen to Me?

♣Chapter 1 Enjoy!♣

I REALLY wished that "old vamp" back in the 1400's DIDN'T bite "some other old family member" of mine and therefor, my ancestor's blood has been passed genetically through the whole bloodstream of our family, and into mine. That "old vamp" isn't really old though. She's only 32,000 years old in Vampire Years, which makes her 32.

Anyways, let me introduce myself. First, my name is Aubrey Hayes. I'm 15 years old and I attend Alcadia High School as a tenth grader in California . I have a 2-year old sister named Ella, but really she's 2000 years old. Vampire Year Math isn't that confusing, all you have to do is just take a number like 3 for example, and you just have to times it by 1,000. Moving on! My Mom's always trying to make me "accept" the Vampire life, but like, for real? I never wanted it, and I never am going to accept it! It just makes me so angry that I have to live as a vampire! Then sometime's my Mom doesn't even follow the traditions and she goes off going to the club and everything! Thing is, I don't have a Dad because supposedly, 'Only Females are supposed to live the way of the Vampire if chosen' said by the "really old woman". Ella doesn't do anything else other then say "ga ga!" and drink Baby Blood Bottles. I feel like I'm the only sane one in this family.

I'm super scared for high school here; my mom has home schooled me ever since I was turned because she was scared of some "vampire hunter" finding me and killing me ON school grounds. Like that's gonna happen. I'm so exited too though! Before I was turned, I actually liked school. Yes, I know. THE HORROR! It was actually fun though! But what do I know? School could have changed from second grade to tenth grade.

The night before my first day, I'm reading on my bed when I heard a knock on my bedroom door. It was Mom. Vampires, well for the kind of vampire I am, can sense who's near within 5 miles. Not that far, but still.

"Hey sweetie! I'm just going to go out for a little. Ella just fell asleep after singing her 57 lullaby songs, I'm getting a little hungry. Want anything?" Mom smiled, sweetly.Since we live right next to the forest, we have a food source; but you'd figure when your mom asks that, she'd be talking about McDonald's or Burger King.What she really's talking about, is a dead animal. Not a McDouble.

"No thanks! I'm not that hungry." I said. I'm trying not to eat any living or once living things, just blood and regular food, even though it doesn't fill me up at all.

"I'll be back!" Mom rushed out of my room at lightning speed, and managed not to slam the door. I continued to read my book, feeling the adrenaline rush through into me, as I dozed off into a light slumber.
