Whitney commenced back to finish up her tour and Kevin and the children went back to the states.
As Kevin got ready for his next film project, he started to make a habit to stop by a local coffee shop each day on the way to the set to pick up his favorite Columbian blend of choice. He was in love with the stuff so much that the staff nearly always had it ready for him after awhile. So all he had to do was come in, pay them (with a generous tip) and scurry on his way.
However, not only had the staff taken notice of this, but a certain someone had as well.
She sat that day in a hoodie and some jeans, waiting for Kevin to come in. She had gotten the time that he usually came in and planned to finally say something to him...and finally carry out the task at hand. She waited and waited.... until she finally spotted him coming in. She waited until he bought his usual and followed him out of the door. "Kevin?" she asked. He turned around, thinking it may be someone wanting an autograph. "Yeah. What's up?" he casually asked her. "You don't know me, but I knew your wife, Whitney well." She began. Kevin gave her a strange look, as if she were crazy. "What do you mean you know my wife?" He asked her. The lady didn't bat an eye. "I was her ex-in law." She went on. Kevin thought long and hard before he remembered what Whitney had mentioned what she did to her the night of the album release. "Leolah Brown." She simply told him, extending her hand to him. Kevin just blankly stared at it. "What the hell do you want?" he asked defensively. She obviously told him about me already she thought to herself. "Listen, I'm not trying to waste your time so I'll just come forward with what I have to say." She told him. "We're you not bothered at all by those tabloid stories on Whitney?"
"It's the price of fame." Kevin said slowly. "Especially when the lies and defamation come along with it from certain jealous ex-in laws." She laughed as she shook her head, looking forward to bringing Whitney's world down. Instead she simply said. "Kevin, have you really wondered if those stories about your wife doing drugs were true?" she asked him. "No." Kevin flat out said. "Not even once?" she asked him. Kevin shook his head and gave her a diabolical laugh. This woman is truly psycho he thought to himself, as he primed himself to tell her off before walking away from her. "I think you should know that it is all true." She said with a straight face. "What would you know about it if this is supposedly true?" his Blue eyes became dark with anger. "I know this" she said as she handed him a journal. Kevin immediately recognized those journals as the ones Whitney use to write down her thoughts and feelings in, like her personal diary. He took the journal and opened it. In it was Whitney's beautiful cursive handwriting inside, with dates and years around the time she was married to Bobby. "Turn to the page where the ribbon is. What you need to read is all on that one page." She blatantly instructed. Kevin leaned against his car, and read: I know this marriage isn't good for me... Bobby is feeding into my dependency on weed, and cocaine and it's only getting worse. I used to use a little with Gary and Michael, but now it seems like I have to have this more and more...like almost everyday...and this can't and won't be good for me in the long run. But it's like the only thing that keeps me sane and focused in all of this madness with my career and the faltering marriage.
Kevin looked up at her. "Where the fuck did you get this?" he demanded. "I found it one day at her house...I figured out how to break the lock and read it. Plus, I've seen it with my own eyes." She told him. "Why should I believe you? You are making this all up." He told her as he handed the journal back to her. Time to bring out the secret weapon she thought as she pulled a few pictures out and handed it to him. Kevin looked at them in disbelief and shame as he saw his wife partake in drugs thorough photos...the photos were from the day that he and the children visited Whitney when she was in the studio. She clearly did not know that the photos were being taken. "Now you know I didn't make this shit up." The lady said as she handed him a card.
Kevin couldn't fix his mouth to speak as he took the card and looked at her. "This is my number to call me and talk later on. Because once you read the rest of that journal, you're gonna need to talk. You're welcome." She walked away and smirked, while Kevin threw his cup of coffee down in anguish.
