Revenge. People always say that the road to revenge is long. That the journey there won't be easy and it certainly wouldn't take you a mere couple of days, weeks or months even to reach your destination, your goal. As such before you venture into the dark, uncertain and dangerous road of revenge you needed to be prepared for anything. And I was.

10 years earlier
Where on earth was he? I looked as dozens of people walked past me, young, old, big, small. But they all had something in common. They were all moving very fast, as if they had somewhere to be, which they probably did. I looked at my watch again. 2:15. He was supposed to be here 15 minutes ago. I was about to look at my watch again when I heard someone behind me. "Hey" the voice was deep but had a tint of softness in it. Finally. I turned around and met those sharp, piercing green eyes that always made me giddy.

"Where have you been?" I asked him.
"Getting you this" he replied. In his hands were two milkshakes. They looked so good and were exactly what I needed on this especially hot day. "Oreo flavoured?" I asked raising one eyebrow up. "You know it" was his reply. I took my milkshake from him and put the straw between my lips and sucked. "Hmmm. So good." I say with my eyes closed cherishing its taste. "That's always the first thing you say" he replied. "Every single time" he added. "Well that's because every time is like the first time" I say simply. He just laughed. I smiled at this. His laugh always made me happy. Reminded me that he was there, that it was me and him against the world, that... "Sue?" I was immediately snapped out of my thoughts. "Hmm?" I said looking up at him. "I said what's next on the list?" He repeated. "Oh right. We actually have two things left. A microwave and pillows." I stated. "Pillows?" He questioned. "For the living room" he looked at me like I was speaking another language. "For decoration" I said slowly. "Yeah I know that. But we already have so much" he said. "You can never have too many pillows." I stated simply. "Ok whatever" he said. "You get the pillows and I'll get the microwave" he added.
"Yeah. Sounds good" I replied.

Drake and I were still getting our home ready as we just got married 2 months ago but we've known each other since I was born. Drake was two years older than me, but our moms are best of friends so we grew up being best friends. I married my best friend. Typical, right? "Where shall I meet you?" He asked me. "Right here" I said. I glanced at my watch. 2:25. "At three." I added. " I mean it Drake. Three on the dot. Not three fifteen." I affirmed. "Yeah, yeah. I got it. Three fifteen." He replied. "No three" I said sharply. "I know. I was joking" he said smiling. Urgh. "Whatever. Don't be late, ok?" I said. "Wouldn't dream of it." He replied giving me a quick kiss. "See you soon" I nodded. I turned around and walked towards the little craft store I spied earlier on.

I had bought three more pillows that matched our decor really well. Merchandise in hand and smiling, I walked towards the meeting place. When I got there I looked at my watch. I must have looked at it six times today already. The time was 2:50. He still had ten minutes so I decided to wait. I pulled my phone out of my jean pocket and saw I had a text from my sister. *Hiya. Just wanted to see if we're still in for tomorrow. Love you* I texted her back that we were and slid the phone back in my pocket.

I looked up and saw a crowd forming up the street. But the weirdest thing was that the once rushing people now slowed down, confusion written across all their faces. "Excuse me. What's going on?" I asked a passer by who was coming away from the crowd. "There's been and accident" the man replied. "An accident? What kind of accident?" I asked again. "A young man." And that was all he said before he hurried of. Now curious I started walking towards the crowd. My foot hit something. I looked down to see a milkshake container on the floor. It's lid had come off and its contents were spilling onto the floor. I recognised the flavour immediately. Oreo.

I looked up again and this time I walked faster towards the crowd. I pushed myself to the front and instantly dropped the bags I was carrying on the floor. "D..Dra...Drake?" I said finally able to form his name. I ran over to him and knelt down by his head. "Oh my goodness baby. Hey look at me." His eyes fluttered open. "Sue?" He whispered. I could tell he was struggling to talk. "Hey. Hey I'm right here. Don't talk. You're gonna be fine." I looked up at the crowd and shouted to them "Call an ambulance. Hurry!!" A few of them brought their phones out and started dialling. I turned back to Drake. "The ambulance are on there way. You're gonna be alright" I reassured him taking a strand of his hair from his eyes. "No..." He started. "Shhh. Don't talk. You're-" he cut me off "I'm not fine Sue. I'm b b bleeding. Badly." He said a tear rolling down his eye. "What? No no no. It's just a little blood. Nothing much." I lied. "I can always tell when you're lying." He coughed. Where was that ambulance? "I love you Sue." He said, clearer this time. "No. Don't say that. Not yet. You can tell me when you're well again." I replied holding back a sob. "Listen to me Sue. I love you. I always have. And I'm glad that I had you in my life." He stated. "Have. You still have me because you're not going anywhere." His eyes started to close. "No. Baby keep your eyes open. Look at me. Keep them on me." I said. He did as I asked. "Ok that's good. Keep doing that. You're gonna be ok. In ten years time we're gonna laugh about this moment. You'll see. You can tell me how ridiculous I must look now." I laughed a bit trying to keep the mood up. "You're beautiful..." It was barely a whisper but I still caught it.

This small statement sent me into a fit of sobs. "Drake? Come on Drake. Hey. Hey wake up. Wake up Drake. Come on. Come on come on. Wake up. Please. Don't leave me. Wake up. Please wake up." I was fully crying now as I watched my husbands piercing green eyes stare back at me. But they weren't his anymore. These eyes were too still. Empty. And with that I knew that he was gone. The only person that I had ever loved was gone. Lost to me forever...

Heeeeyy guys. I decided to have a shot at another book, but a different genre. Pleeeeease comment so I know you've read it. Even if it just "I've read it" say so and tell me what you think. I hope you like it so far. This is just a sort of opening. And the depending on the feedback I get, I will choose whether to carry on the story or not. Thank you for your time.
