Akashi continued to stare at Suki. Somewhere in his mind, he registered that she didn’t recognize him yet. What were the chances that he would meet Suki here? Or, maybe the more important question, why was she here? The girl could have gone to any school of her choice, so it was surprising she chose Teiko.

Pushing aside his musings, he took a moment to look at his former acquaintance. She certainly retained most of her childish looks, the most changes occurred in her hair, which was now longer and dip-dyed crimson. She lost the glasses, in exchange for what looked like red contacts.

She always did like my eyes.

The red-head sighed. This was going to be troublesome, but he couldn’t help the inkling of curiosity that twinged at his consciousness. Why did she stop playing basketball?

His attention shifted when they entered the medical office. Suki started to hustle and bustle around for bruise cream and a plaster.

“You always did overreact,” Akashi said finally.

He saw that Suki did in fact hear him, and took a moment to process it. She spun around on her heel and placed a hand on her hip. She stared at him…no, more like scrutinized. Finally, uttering a long and drawn out sigh, she let her hand drop.

So she finally got it.

“Do I know you?”

Maybe not.

“Come now, I don’t look that different, Izayoi,” Akashi sighed. He crossed his legs and leaned against the wall. She stared at Akashi again. He saw her twitch at ‘Izayoi’.

“Akashi,” she muttered tiredly, “only you, Akashi, would make such a round-about way of introducing yourself.”

“Why did you stop playing basketball?” he said bluntly, obviously expecting a response.

Suki grinned at him, “Still as monotone and straightforward as ever, my friend.”

“Just answer the question Izayoi,”

The petite girl frowned at him,” Family problems, Akashi.”

The boy nodded in understanding. Her family was a bit…fickle.

“Are you planning on joining the basketball team this year?”

“Not a chance, Akashi, I’m done with all of this.” She sighed. He walked up to the table, picked up the cream and started to lather it on his bruise.

“Think about it some more,” he said, fixing the plaster, “I’m sure you’ll change your mind.” And walked out.

I groaned in frustration. Not only was Aoimine on my case, but now so is Akashi. His parting remark did leave a sense of foreboding with me though. Akashi was no fool, and I wasn’t about to be one by not heading his advice.

Making my way outside to meet Aoimine, I saw one of Akashi’s ‘friends’. The purple-haired giant. I never bothered to remember his name, Murasakibara,  because frankly, it was too long for me. Instead, I gave him a nickname. After all, he was a tolerable person.

I walked up behind him, “Yo, Mura,” I greeted casually.

“Ah,” he turned around and smiled, “Suu-chan.” He popped a candy cane in his mouth. “Everything alright?”

I sighed dramatically for him,” It’s Akashi again, always pestering me.”

“Aka-chan doesn’t mean it, but you should listen to what he has to say,” Mura said flippantly, hooking his finger around the candy.

“I’ll keep that in mind, anyway, it was nice seeing you!” I smirked and walked off, plucking a candy cane from his hand.
